Just strum the ones with a number indicated :P If there's no number there, you don't touch those. And I'm sure you know what the numbers mean, right? If not, make sure you read up on how to read tablature.

Practice.
Specifically, practice only upstrums, whether you decide to do full chords or power chords. Then, once that's comfortable, slowly strum up and down in sequence on a single chord. Then, get faster. Finally, do it while moving chords.
You just have to take it in steps. Hopefully this helps.
Alternatively, you could skip to the second step (strumming up and down alternatively), but it's good to know how to upstrum on its own.

Whatever's more comfortable with you :P You're gonna have to learn how to upstrum eventually though.

Also, is Cagayake a hard song to play on the drums? I'm watching tkmdr ("The Real Ritsu")'s drum cover and it doesn't seem too hard. Or should I /really/ just stick to learning the basic drum songs lloonnee2 mentioned first?

Don't know , but when I hear the drums instrumental of U&I I think that this is one of the easiest songs so if you want try it.

Is that the official sheet music for U&I at the start or is that just his version. 'Cause last time I checked, the song wasn't that complicated...

I'm sure it's his version of the official sheet music. He doesn't tend to improvise or add his own things when he does covers, so this is just the guitar part he hears in the song. I've got his PowerTab tabs. If anybody wants them, I can upload them for ya (or just email him)

That might be because he's trying to sift through two guitar parts at once... or maybe not
It'll probably be easier listening to the instrumental version, slowed-down

I'm pretty sure official sheet music for this one isn't out yet

EDIT: If anyone's already asked that guy for U&I tabs (I think they're usually in pdf), I'm willing to contribute to a gp5 version of the tab.

Place your pick in such a manner that the point of the pick is pointed downwards toward the neck of the guitar, and so that the sides of the pick are touching a string on both sides. Then, depending on where you need to be after the pick slide, you move up the neck or down. Should make a constant scratching noise as you move the pick.

I hope this helps. It's a little tough to explain in plain text.

Pick slide on a muted note? That shouldn't change the sound. Can you explain that a little bit more?

Also, the higher the strings, the less sound they'll produce in general. Most pick slides happen on the the top two strings.
