After much thinking, I decided to not use Hayate as a playable character. The reason is because three storylines would indeed be fun, but the readers would miss so much from the others it would be too hard to follow. So instead, I'm going back to just Nanoha and Fate. This is Nanoha's POV
Spoiler for Vampire!Fate pt. 1A (Nanoha):
I looked to the doorway when I heard footsteps coming from the stairs and gave Fate a small smile when she appeared. I kind of wanted her to be out of breath from running here to see me, but I knew that her being a vampire, getting out of breath would probably take more than just running. "Hello," I spoke to her while going back to cleaning the dishes in my sink.
"Um... hey..." Fate came into the kitchen area and looked at me while I continued to work. "...I'm sorry."
I sniffed. "I only waited in the lobby for two hours."
"... Yeah." Fate looked down.
"You promised me you'd pick me up when I was released, where were you?"
"I..." Fate sighed. "No where."
"Don't say that." I turned and looked at her fully. " That makes it sound like you were somewhere you don't want me to know."
"I wasn't."
"Then just say that, mou." I went back to the dished but yanked my hand out when I felt a small sear of pain. "Ow!"
"What happened?" Fate hovered over my shoulder while I held up my cut finger.
"Nicked it on a knife." I patted my hand dry and then went to wipe off the small stream of blood before pausing. Slowly I moved my hand over to Fate with my finger extended and looked the other way. "...You want to?" She didn't answer at first, which made me turn to look at her. "No? You haven't drank lately have you?"
Fate slowly took my hand and brought it too her mouth. I felt her lips wrap around my finger and her tongue roll around it. I half expected her to pierce it again with one of her fangs but instead she pulled my finger from her mouth and popped the skin of her own fingertip, drawing some oil-black blood from it. "Here," she whispered, touching our fingertips together. I felt a weird tingling sensation and when she pulled away, the pain was gone.
"How...?"
"My blood heals, remember?" She moved her hand back but I grabbed it. Our eyes met and I slowly pulled her finger to my mouth, licking her blood from her finger and sucking softly. Her eyes widened and I tasted a small flow come from her fingertip. Inhaling through my nose, I pressed my mouth tighter and sucked once more, this time tasting her blood fully. It was thick... but had something to it... Something I couldn't place... but I strangely wanted more.
Fate was shivering now and I stepped forward questioningly so our fronts were touching. Using the stepstool I had to reach up to higher shelves, I rose myself up and lightly turned her head away before kissing her neck. She went stiff in my arms and I kissed her again, lightly sucking on where I knew a vein to be.
"Na...no ha..." Fate gripped my sides and I felt her body shaking. I sucked harder, leaving a hickey on her before she suddenly pulled back and crashed her lips upon mine. Her hands grabbed my butt and lifted me off the stool so I wrapped them around her waist. The next moment I was moving, but I kept my eyes closed. My arms went around her, fingers diving into her hair.
I felt my soft bed under me and Fate's feverish panting against my lips, her tongue working from my mouth down my neck and collar bone, where she bit just hard enough to make me gasp. "Fate... -chan..."
A.) Nanoha
B.) Fate
Pink, please.
Nanoha is sooo cool... A for more Nanoha narration! ^^
I decided to start at the very beginning, as the beginning was a very good place to start. I rolled the book off of my nightstand and cracked it open. Books were the one thing I knew. I flipped to the section labeled 'So now you're a mage'.
“Congratulations, you are one of the few magically gifted members of society,” the book was sounding more and more like a 50's educational video. I breezed through the beginning. The book wasn't complex but it was confusing, for a book supposedly for children I couldn't imagine one who could I couldn't imagine one who could make sense of it. I got a good bit of it. Mages were mages because they had something called a linker core that produced mana, though how it worked wasn't clear. I was about to turn to the next part, the part Nanoha had bookmarked, 'Read this Yuuno-kun!' when my window rolled open.
I supposed by that point I ought to have expected weird things to happen, however seeing her there, white feathers falling around her like snow caused me to drop the book and stare. “F-Fate?” Really with everything happening to me I wouldn't have been surprised if Hayate informed me she was a cat girl alien from the planet Sekuhara.
Fate elegantly slid off my second story window and into my room, brushing off the school uniform's skirt, apparently Fate only had one outfit, I recalled she'd been wearing it the previous night as well. She shrugged off a few leaves and looked at me, “Nice... pajamas,” Fate really was a teasing person.
I looked down at my bare skinny chest and suddenly wished I didn't sleep in my boxers. I scrambled out of my bed and grabbed the first t-shirt I could reach and threw it on. “Thanks,” I grumbled. She continued to stand by the front of my bed.
“Please sit,” I motioned to an old trunk as I slipped into pants.
She did as I asked and settled down as I retreated to my bed. “So this is your room,” she seemed pleased with it as if she were proud because it was her own. “So many books...” She was referring to my ceiling high bookshelves.
“Yeah...” I didn't know why but I felt a bit ashamed of my love of books now.
“No,” she shook her head realizing my embarrassment. “I like it.”
I nearly laughed at the absurdity of our situation. Here she was, early in the morning in my room presumably having flown up and we were talking about my books. I decided to start up of the topic pressing on my mind, “So why are you paying me this visit?”
“The company you're keeping is dangerous,” She calmly crossed her legs not looking me in the eye.
“You've been following me?” Was privacy a thing of the past?
“Alicia asked me to look after... 'her Yuuno',” Fate smiled faintly. “So I followed you.”
“You... followed me,” also known as stalking..
“Yes Yuuno I did,” Fate didn't seem to think this was a problem. She continued on in her quiet voice.
“Did you know I have magic?”
Fate nodded, “From the moment you walked in the classroom that day.”
“Why didn't you say anything?” Sure it would have only been a bit earlier but it would have been nice.
“And I'm sure you would have believed me right?”
I rubbed the back of my head, “good point.”
She shifted in her seat, “You've been given a powerful gift Yuuno. Don't waste it on a few devils.”
“Power used on a friend is not wasted,” I pouted. “Nanoha's my friend, no matter who she's bonded too. She was your friend too wasn't she?”
“... don't get the wrong idea Yuuno I didn't want...” she sighed. “I didn't want this boundary between us but what she's doing-” She stopped.
“She's saving people. Is that wrong?” I kept my self calm but I was clueless as to Fate's complaints.
“Saving people...” Fate twirled a feather in her hand and spoke with a melancholy tone, “so hat's what they think they're doing.”
“Fate. Please explain.”
A long scroll of paper appeared in her hand from nothing. She rolled it out looking over it, “Sayori Miho, supposed to have died three years ago in a robbery at a stop and shop. She would then be reincarnated as Yumi Hitohira. But when it came time for Hitohira to be born Miho was still alive and well because one Nanoha Takamachi, newly pacted, knocked out the robber and saved everyone. As a result three months ago Hitohiro was stillborn and every single decedent she would have had will never exist. Their souls will have nowhere to go until they can be placed in some sort of body. Cause and effect. Death is not random, everyone has a time to die and the cycle of reincarnation goes out of whack when they don't. Devils are not part of the cycle and their effects are not ever taken into account.”
I narrowed my eyes more confused than angry, “What do you mean?”
“They fancy themselves defenders when all they are are god minded beings who cause trouble for my kind.”
I looked up at her, a thousand thoughts and questions in my head but I couldn't form words for any of them.
“Be careful.”
“I-I will of course!”
“I've kept most of the suspicion away from them but someone's been trying to kill them, and there's the matter of the summoner.” She stood up, heading back onto my windowsill. “And if you get hurt... Alicia will be sad.”
She was almost out of the window when she stopped and turned to look over her shoulder, “Shield magic suits you. You're very kind Yuuno. Your hands weren't meant to hurt anyone.”
“Wait Fate! What are you exactly?”
She paused, looking contemplative. “I suppose... the best word for us is...” she held out her hand a long black pole appeared in it from the pole was attached a curved golden blade. “Reapers.” And with that she disappeared into the night well morning.
~~~
Both Nanoha and Fate were ignoring me, well not as much ignoring me as much as neither of us were making any conversation. Hayate was quiet too but at least she'd giving me a good morning Yuuno when I walked in. That was when a small triangle of paper landed on my desk.
As soon as the coast was clear, I unfolded the paper.
Please meet me on the roof. Lunch Period.
Reapers huh ... that should be pretty fun to find out more about. Though as Usual, it seems all i can do is manage to steer away from Hayate, thus A
After separating from their terraforming anxious brethren, the colonists used their acquired resources and knowledge to establish their own colony. They dubbed their new colony Plymouth, nestled near the base of a long extinct volcano. Due to the ancient tectonic activity, the area was rich in common ore, providing an abundance of raw material from which to construct their new home. And thrive they did. While the some of the core structures critical to the operation of the colony like the Command Center and Structure Factory remained unchanged from when they liberated it during their exodus, others were redesigned to better fit their own needs and ideals. While Eden's structures were blocky and grey in color, Plymouth's incorporated more curves in their design and they opted for a more natural, brownish color.
Time passed by for the colonists. Not having to worry about being ridiculed for their ideas or their own safety, moral amongst the colonists were high. Here they were able to explore ways in which to live with the planet rather than bend it to their will. As the population expanded, so did the colony. The construction vehicles of the colony, the Construction Vehicle or ConVec, were busy at work transporting newly constructed Residency Kits from the Structure Factory to their future sites. Currently there were plans for a total of three new Residencies to be constructed to accommodate the colonists. One was currently under construction, estimated to be completed in the next few days. The workers at the Structure Factory were currently busy assembling another kit. Although the process was mostly automated, it still required input from workers to finish the task. The final Residency was on route to the build site in one of the ConVecs.
Nanoha Takamachi leaned over the steering wheel in the cab, "Ugh, why did they have to decide to build the new housing block at the other end of the stupid colony..."
She was dressed in a standard environmental suit. The helmet was placed on the unoccupied seat next to her as the suit was mostly in case of emergencies or exiting the vehicle. Vibrations rocked the small cab, sending her signature sideways ponytail bouncing haphazardly much to her annoyance. The area around the colony was usually smoothed and flat, but the council had also decided to use the construction to expand the colony further. Thus the area was still uneven and rocky. ConVecs were designed to be durable and handle the rough terrain though that didn't mean they could do it with the comfort of the passengers in mind.
Flashing yellow lights ahead signaled that she was nearing her destination. Two workers in suits flagged her down and directed her to the build site next to the near-complete Residency. The ConVec came to a full stop and she shut down the cab before donning her helmet and hopping out into the harsh New Terra environment. Several workers were already at the side control panel to begin unloading and constructing the new structure. With her last delivery done for the day, she headed off to the airlock of the tube that would connect the new structures to the rest of the colony. They not only allowed access without having to venture outside, but provided power and other essential connections.
Beep.
The green light indicated that the airlock was not pressurized. Not waiting for the door to open, she was quick to remove her helmet and free her cramped hair. The first thing she felt was the rush of cool air against her face, a pleasant change from the hot cab. Entering the tube, she found it to be empty as it was a dead end for now. Once the new Residencies are up and running, the tube will be busy with people heading back and forth between structures.
As she walked down the tube, she checked her suit's clock. Her parents were probably still at work at the bakery they had managed to set up near the cafeteria. It was a much appreciated change of pace from the same old menu everyday for the colonists. There was even word that they had some fans in the higher command that might give them a larger area to expand into. Her older brother and sister, Kyoya and Mitsuki helped out when they could when they weren't studying at the University. She herself was at the age where she could head to study to work in the Plymouth labs, but it never caught her interest. When she wasn't out driving or teaching new workers vehicle operation she did her share to help out the business though that was usually between jobs.
Her train of thought was broken as she came to a junction in the tube.
A) Head back to her place to change
B) Grab a bite to eat at the cafeteria
C) Change to Fate PoV
B. Moar Fate pl0x. xD
"For Life is experience, and longevity is, in the end, measured by memory, and those with a thousand tales to tell have indeed lived longer then any who embrace the mundane."
I looked down at Nanoha's body laying next to me and allowed myself to smile fondly down at it. The sheets were just over her breasts, covering her naked body. I moved my hand over to her ear and trailed some hair behind it. Pulling away, I received several strands of the brown locks attached to my finger and I couldn't help but grin at them. Maybe I pulled on her a little too hard...
I looked at the fading bite mark on her neck and touched it gently, making the girl sigh softly in her dreams. I had bitten her for the second time, drinking from her veins as she had a body rush during her climax. The taste was actually worse than I remembered, but I couldn't stop myself at the moment. I had drank heavily from her, until she whispered my name and fainted from exhaustion.
She would probably sleep all night and into the morning, knowing her. Slowly I moved from the bed and put on my discarded clothes laying beside it. Once covered, I moved back to my new found lover and pulled the covers over her properly. I bent over and kissed her forehead softly before I left the room and went downstairs into the bakery.
Caro and Erio seemed to be closing down the shop and I realized that Nanoha and I had made love for almost an hour... I guess it couldn't be helped, the way she sucked on my finger and neck... A full body shiver ran over me and I had to repress the memory. I was highly sensitive to people sucking on me, even more so when blood was involved.
"Fate-san?" Caro's voice called me from me thoughts and I looked over at her. "Is Nanoha asleep?"
"Yes," I confirmed for her before realizing that they had been working in the shop all day long. "Are you hungry?"
Erio's voice interrupted the girl with a "starving!"
I laughed lightly and bent over to them. "What do you want to eat?"
Caro blushed at me and tried to stammer out a decline of offer but once again Erio spoke his mind. "How about some seafood? Caro was talking about wanting some earlier."
"Oh?" I grinned at the flustered girl. "Don't worry, Caro, my treat, what would you like?"
"Uhm..." She looked down at her feet and I was amazed at how humble she was when it came to asking favors from others. Then again, I had treated her like my own child ever since we met. It was probably a little intimidating for her.
"Tell you what, I'm going to go to that place down the road. Erio, I'll call you when I get there so make her pick something okay?"
"Sure." Erio gave me a thumbs and Caro simply started stammering again.
With a smile, I patted them each on the head and got my keys from the counter. As I headed out the door and onto the streets I saw glowing orange eyes looking at me from the other side of the road. Smirking, I called out to the person confidently. "I'm going to get dinner, want to come?"
A woman stepped from the shadows, twin tails flowing behind her, laced with black ribbons that held shining gold crosses. "Ah, I'm starving."
The last of the (pt 2) sets... HaFeNa! HayaFeiNano? TeToHa?
Spoiler for HayaFate + Feitoha pt 2:
“I…”
Fate was cut off as Hayate placed a finger on her lips. Her eyes were kind as she whispered, “Don’t say it. You’re happy now, Fate-chan. Don’t ruin what you have with Nanoha-chan. Don’t break another heart.”
Fate’s words died on her lips, the pain in Hayate’s eyes reflecting in her own. When Hayate turned her back on her, Fate reached for her shirt.
“12.”
“What?” Fate stopped and looked up at Hayate’s back.
“Your BMI. If you had male rather than female organs, that’s what your BMI would be at. I’m glad you’re still taking care of yourself.”
Fate sighed as she pulled on her blazer. “And I’m as happy as ever that you can walk.”
They turned towards each other and smiled. Hayate walked over and stopped just in front of Fate. Both sets of eyes watched as she brought a hand up to slowly caress Fate’s cheek.
Fate closed her eyes, remembering when that touch had last been felt. She shuddered, wishing she hadn’t been too insecure to hold onto it for all that it was worth to her now.
“Nanoha-chan… she doesn’t hurt you, does she?”
Fate shook her head, not opening her eyes for as long as that hand remained on her person.
“We’ll have to get together sometime. You know, just to catch up. Things are getting so busy… It’s like we never get to be assigned to the same missions anymore.”
“All the better.”
“Why?” The hand stopped.
Fate opened her eyes. “Because I couldn’t stand it if I lost the two most important people to me on the same mission. I’d die of grief.”
“So would I. But…” Hayate smiled and leaned forward, kissing Fate’s eyelid. “If we’re all together, we can save each other too.”
“Hayate…”
“You should go.” Hayate leaned back and placed her hands behind her back. “Shamal will be coming back soon.”
Fate hesitated, but ultimately, she took a step back. Stepped away from temptation. “Hayate, I never stopped loving you.”
Too afraid to hear the answer, too afraid to be told what she already knew- that it was over between them- Fate hurried to the door. She left, without another backwards glance.
Hayate looked down at the neck ornament that Fate had forgotten. Bending down to pick it up, running her fingers along its silky surface, she whispered, “I never did either, Fate-chan.”
“Fate-chan!” Nanoha smiled as she reached their apartment door at the same time as Fate. Fate smiled back. “Did you just get off?”
Fate nodded. “Mmhmm. And you, Nanoha? No training long into the night for your students?”
“Nyahaha…” Nanoha opened the door, letting Fate go in first. “It was getting really cold. I trained them a bit to let them get used to working in extreme temperatures, but I let them off early so they would be able to make it to training tomorrow. I don’t want any of them to get sick on my watch after all.”
“I see.” Fate turned on the light and headed to the kitchen. “What do you want to eat tonight? It’s my turn, I think. It’s Tuesday, isn’t it?”
Nanoha laughed and wrapped her arms around Fate. “You’ve been so busy you’re not even sure what day it is?” She nuzzled Fate’s neck and kissed a place she knew was sensitive. “Poor Fate-chan. Let’s cook something quick together and then go to bed, hm?”
“Ah…” Fate flushed, thinking of what might happen in bed. “Nanoha…”
“What?” Nanoha stopped and giggled, kissing Fate’s ear before walking over to the refrigerator. “Silly, I don’t mean like that. I can tell when you’re not in the mood. I’m not either, not really. Now come on, when need our nutrients. What did you eat today?”
Fate smiled in relief and walked over to join her. “Umm… I had a banana and some toast for breakfast… I had salad and this tofu dish they had on today’s special for lunch…”
Nanoha giggled, turning to look at Fate. “Are you going vegetarian on me?”
Fate frowned and returned, “No, that’s just what I felt like having today. Why? What did you have?”
“Umm… ham, cheese, and vegetable omelette… then a steak with mashed potatoes… snacked on some apples…”
Fate blinked and replayed Nanoha’s list in her head. She blurted out as it came to her, “You had steak for lunch? Mou, Nanoha!”
“Nyahaha what? I was treated to lunch… they picked the place.”
“Treated? By who?”
Nanoha waved it off. “Oh, it was Yuuno. He came by my office while I was in and we went out for lunch to catch up some.”
“Oh.” Fate looked at the contents of their refrigerator. It was getting sparse. “Is he doing well?”
“Mmhmm. Do you want to have spaghetti tonight? It doesn’t take long. He thinks he may be onto something.”
“What?”
“He wouldn’t tell me. I could tell he was excited though.”
“Ah. Spaghetti sounds good.”
“He asked me…” Nanoha set the precooked meatballs on the counter before turning to Fate. “He asked me if I would consider… being with him… if things worked out well for him. He said he’d be coming into some really good money… he could provide us with a nice house in the suburbs…”
Fate felt her insides grow cold. “’Us’?”
“Him and me.” Nanoha bit her lip before she spilled out her rebuttal on fast forward. “But I told him that I was with you, and I was happy with you, and that I didn’t need a house or anything fancy as long as I could be with you… And there’s also my position in TSAB to consider…”
“TSAB gives you the option to live offbase though. As long as you acknowledge that you’re-“
“Always on call, I know. But I don’t want to do that until after I’ve been let go anyway.”
Fate rolled her eyes. “Nanoha, you’re the Ace of Aces. They won’t let you go until you’re crippled for life or incapacitated. And if that happens, then you won’t let them go.”
Nanoha frowned. “What are you saying? That I should have accepted his offer?”
“No, no, that’s not what I was saying.” Fate pursed her lips and turned away. “Just… It’s fine for you to reject proposals you don’t like, but your reasons should be irrefutable.”
Fate could feel a chill rise in the air as Nanoha asked, “Is my happiness with you not… irrefutable?”
“Nanoha, that’s not what I-“
“I wasn’t going to say anything before but,” Nanoha looked at her square in the eyes. “Where’s the ribbon you always wear around your neck? The one I gave you when we first got together?”
Fate touched her neck, realizing it was indeed not there, and found that she had no answer ready.
The last of the (pt 2) sets... HaFeNa! HayaFeiNano? TeToHa?
Spoiler for HayaFate + Feitoha pt 2:
“I…”
Fate was cut off as Hayate placed a finger on her lips. Her eyes were kind as she whispered, “Don’t say it. You’re happy now, Fate-chan. Don’t ruin what you have with Nanoha-chan. Don’t break another heart.”
Fate’s words died on her lips, the pain in Hayate’s eyes reflecting in her own. When Hayate turned her back on her, Fate reached for her shirt.
“12.”
“What?” Fate stopped and looked up at Hayate’s back.
“Your BMI. If you had male rather than female organs, that’s what your BMI would be at. I’m glad you’re still taking care of yourself.”
Fate sighed as she pulled on her blazer. “And I’m as happy as ever that you can walk.”
They turned towards each other and smiled. Hayate walked over and stopped just in front of Fate. Both sets of eyes watched as she brought a hand up to slowly caress Fate’s cheek.
Fate closed her eyes, remembering when that touch had last been felt. She shuddered, wishing she hadn’t been too insecure to hold onto it for all that it was worth to her now.
“Nanoha-chan… she doesn’t hurt you, does she?”
Fate shook her head, not opening her eyes for as long as that hand remained on her person.
“We’ll have to get together sometime. You know, just to catch up. Things are getting so busy… It’s like we never get to be assigned to the same missions anymore.”
“All the better.”
“Why?” The hand stopped.
Fate opened her eyes. “Because I couldn’t stand it if I lost the two most important people to me on the same mission. I’d die of grief.”
“So would I. But…” Hayate smiled and leaned forward, kissing Fate’s eyelid. “If we’re all together, we can save each other too.”
“Hayate…”
“You should go.” Hayate leaned back and placed her hands behind her back. “Shamal will be coming back soon.”
Fate hesitated, but ultimately, she took a step back. Stepped away from temptation. “Hayate, I never stopped loving you.”
Too afraid to hear the answer, too afraid to be told what she already knew- that it was over between them- Fate hurried to the door. She left, without another backwards glance.
