Episode 6:
It's disappointing that Eiji Nobunishi didn't stay at the baseball club after it was resumed, but it can't be helped since he's responsible for that bullying incident that suspended their activities. Meanwhile, Takumi Harada's pitching has its limits... or should I say that Gou Nagakura couldn't handle his faster pitches as he couldn't catch it firmly. |

I'm calling it victim blaming because apparently having the audacity to want to practice and having his own discretion, and *gasp* wanting to keep to himself is for some reason that I can't fathom calling for himself to be bullied. And I can say the same about just about every character being selfish. The mom is selfish because even as she's well aware of her son's, can we call them disabilities?, she keeps pushing solely because she has a need of self-acknowledgement. Heck the main guy who bullied Takumi doesn't give a rat's ass about the team, he only cared about his comfort and his resume. Calling practices early, not caring about the improvement about the team, going through the motions. At least Takumi wanted to keep practicing... and we're going to talk about teamwork? All they were worried was about losing their starting position, if that at all. And on and on... Whatever.

Takumi wanted to keep practicing for his own personal benefit, not in the interest of his team. I don't know where you get any perception that Takumi is a team player. Almost every single action and dialogue that has come out of his mouth has been for selfish and personal interest. He refuses to listen to the coach, he refuses to listen to his battery-mate. When he offends and upsets Go, he thinks it's perfectly acceptable and that Go will be willing to play catch with him regardless. In fact, the premise of this entire series is Takumi's anti-social personality and the unwillingness to buy into the team concept. And it's quite obvious that this is the "how fun it is to play ball" aspect that the grandfather and coach are trying to instill in him. |

Actually, the person I was arguing prior to you pretty much did.

It really seems that the grandfather is the only character who actually understands Takumi at all, and props to the coach for actually TRYING to understand him, and taking advice to heart. Quote:
I also think you're vastly underestimating the different amount of personalities that get into team sports. Quote:
She's the one in position of power, she's the one that is the parent and should know better. She's the one not respecting one's boundaries. Quote:
That's a loser right there. Quote:
The problem here is that while Takumi is selfish and has his own personal interests, at no point in time has he actually been an obstacle to anyone, other than you know, players who are worse pitchers than him since he'll be taking their position. Also, you're completely micharacterizing the scene about wanting more practice. It was a call for the team to practice more and get experience in rain (when it was barely even raining). He can practice by himself anytime he wants, if that was the case, he wouldn't have made a fuss out of it. He simply called out his "senpais" for not taking practice seriously. Anyways, this is all besides the point.

Back-and-forth about attitude, blame, personality aside...
I'm more interested in why Takumi seemingly didn't try his best in his last pitch, which is the only reason why I'd think Go would be mad afterwards, and along those lines what role did Go being shaky played into it. Of course, Go didn't manage to catch the best pitch Takumi threw, so I wonder how much that played into it as well... but Takumi seemed more taken a back when he saw Go's hand shaking.

I thought he didn't throw his best pitch because he was afraid Gou wouldn't be able to catch it after he already messed up the first time. That could have shattered his confidence. Unfortunately, Gou noticed and naturally feels insulted. Not to mention they lost their chance to get a match with the other team.

Looking forward to seeing how that plays out. Also curious to see if the batter noticed or notices now in this upcoming exchange that Takumi didn't pitch him his fastest.

Damn, Gou kind of lost it this episode..really wish he didn't use his fist to do the talking at times especially when it comes to Takumi.
Takumi and Gou still has quite a bit of drama around each other even though the show has reached the half way point now. I expect an actual game eventually rather than exhibition match soon.

So it looks like Go's doubts continuously to grow in this series in particular about being the catcher for Takumi.
I don't like Shun much, he's the type of guy that seems to stir up trouble for the hell of it. The game itself was even interrupted so..maybe a rematch some other time? He really has that nickname directed at Takumi huh? "Princess".

I'm starting to get seriously bored with this show. The drama is superficial at best, and none of the characters are particularly likable. I thought it'd be something similar to Adachi's works, but it doesn't even being to scratch their depths.

Episodes 7 and 8:
Well, Takumi Harada managed to strike Shugo Kadowaki, but his pitching turned worse that Yokoteni scored a run. Whether it's something to do about his strained relationship with Gou Nagakura or he's just gave up to the pressure of making a no-hitter, I have to say that Takumi's performance at the mound was pathetic! |

Looks like we got a casual game this episode.
Kadowaki and Shun got into a big argument. I think it's because Kadowaki fears about his potential being ignored because of Takumi and Shun is very straightforward with his words. I hope we get a game soon with two more episodes left.

Episode 9:
And I thought that Takumi's relationship with Gou has gone bad, it turns out that Shugo got a bit of a fight against Shunji for mocking him! Damn, I fear that the official game between Nitta East and Yokoteni won't happen now that the latter has a serious problem! |
