EDIT: But yes I do agree on the activation being a bad move by CoreCodec.

I can tell you right now this would NOT sit well with security-minded organizations, especially those where privacy and security are important. I suspect this would not be very HIPAA compliant. --Ian. Last edited by IRJustman; 2006-12-13 at 23:49. |

1.2 is already cracked anyway. A lot of good that activation scheme did them...
And low-resolution 2D images are low-resolution 2D images. Rendering them is trivial. Resizing them and doing fancy filtering is not, but you don't have to do that (and in fact, the CCCP defaults have it turned off). A Rage128 will be more than enough.

CPU = Central Processing Unit, that is the main chip that powers your computer. To make things easier for you get this tool, go tools -> test render, select the problematic file, let it finish, then go file -> save log and post that log here.

I would suspect this to be particularly true if it's an H.264 file and it's running on a slower machine. Anything below a Pentium 4 (Intel) or Athlon XP 2000+ (AMD, and did they ever make such a part?) will more than likely be too slow. --Ian. |

You guys are being extremely nice, I mean it. It's like the same question over and over again. (Or maybe it's just me having too little understanding)
I'm currently in the process of reading all these pages, can't help myself posting XD |

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the key to understanding .mkv is:
.mkv = .sht It may be newer than .avi, and .avi may have its problems. It may even need a replacement. Butthatlacement is not .mkv - whoever designed it needs to go back to the drawing board. Bad compatability, craptastic subtitle drawing, dumb stuff like drawing one line of subtitle over another, resource hoggery, and general suckiness means .mkv is not ready for prime time. |

The post above mine is an example of a post coming from people that don't know what they're speaking about.
There's an easy way out though: try to find some more info and see why someone would make such an affirmation reading your post. A little help: mkv is a container, it doesn't draw subtitles, it only contains them, a container has no influence on the resources so you simply jumped to a wrong conclusion that magically made sense for you, an advanced container can store inside streams from newer video and audio compression formats that require more procesing power during decoding (you can't stop progress). You are right on the compatibility part though, the best supported platform is a PC with Microsoft Windows while *nix and Mac users have to satisfy themselves with what mplayer and vlc has to offer, but even there things have improved over time. At least under mplayer, from the features usually used on a file only chapters don't work right now. Last edited by Navel; 2007-03-05 at 05:37. |

Navel;
I know that when I play .mkv files, the subtitles look like crap. What else do I need to know? It's not a superior format for subtitled anime if tough-to-read, weirdly-drawn subtitles in a clunky font jumble over each other. I don't need to explain not liking that. Look, guy, I'm not a fansubber or an encoder. I'm an end-user. All I know is: .avi work good, .mkv work bad. But that's all I need to know. Anyone who produces anything for other people knows that their job is to make something that works well for the end-user. That's true wether the thing being produced is fansubs, cars, widgets, or baloney sandwiches. If it doesn't work well for the end-user, it's a dog no matter how impressive its spec sheet may look. .mkv work bad. Boo .mkv Last edited by Nergol; 2007-03-05 at 05:48. |
