Is this what the LN claims? That is an excessive amount to remove a fleet. |

For those discussing about Japan's preemptive attack on GAA's Naval Base...
Spoiler for LN spoilers:
Another thing to remember: the setting of Mahouka is post-WW3. It is highly possible that the geopolitics of the world is different from what we currently knows. So, I don't quite understand why people pointed out that the novel has the right-wing flavor to it; this feels a bit like prejudging the Japan in the Mahouka universe with incomplete information. |

The right-wing reference has nothing to do with the Japan of the Mahouka universe. It has to do with how the author structures his world and what actions he lets his protagonists and actors in that world take. Considering the current real-world climate a show which emphasises a constant threat from a big mainland nation attacking poor Japan unprovoked plus the portrayal of a strong military and weapons with limitless power is bound to invite right-wing propaganda accusations. And seeing it all I am trending towards the notion that the author has right-wing tendencies.

It's not like they are not an allies in Mahouka-verse. They are allies, but they are also rival in the pacific. Japan declines is USNA's gain, Japan will rely more on them thus USNA will have more reign on them. Seeing how the situation is, and the Japanese fleet aren't ready, I personally think it's quite understandable if they decided to launch the Material Burst. It's more cheap, more efficient, they don't need USNA's help, and it can prevents the GAA to further attack them. It's a war after all, what's wrong with that? |

Just want to make sure..
Do you think that Kami-sama knows time and space magic and the power of the summon meteors at his will? Because my gut told me that he CAN! Serious note: So why are those GGA attacks Japan in the first place? I must had forgot their intentions for this invasion. |

On the serious note, it didn't explained by the scriptwriter, which is the reason why I don't like this adaptation. Note that GAA is behind in magic tech so they want to steal data about magic & magicians of Japan from the Magic Association, they also want to kidnap valuable magicians so they could be used as tools in negotiation for releasing the prisoners of GAA. |
