Looks really interesting and I will definitely be checking it out.
A few weeks ago I thought I would be watching barely anything, not suddenly there are all these shows I want to try out (will need to learn some good time management).

I am not too fond of what A-1 Pictures does with their characters' designs. Hated SAO's too. At least the animation is wonderful. |

HunterXHunter is still ongoing well into the fall! It might be among the better side, from the looks of it, but it's too early to call it the best when there are strong competitors in the run as well. Quote:
Mind you, I won't mind it much if they decided to expand on the novel and add a lot of new content that makes it fit into 24-26 episodes, since I think there is more to the premise and the world here that could be explored. But still, I'd rather they keep it short and do it well. Quote:

Well, personally I prefer to err on the side of caution far as adaptation length goes. Everyone told me I was crazy last year for thinking that two cours wouldn't be enough to properly adapt the Persona 4 storyline, but hey, I was right, we got a rushed story with comparatively small emotional impact. One cour might be good enough, but two cours would definitely be good enough (to both cover the entire storyline and pace things well instead of breezing through through the high points ala a SparkNotes-style checklist, which a 12 episode show might or might not do); and I personally rather like when anime adaptations include some original material. I would also like to be able to spend a decent amount of time in each time period, since the lengthy scope of the show is a big appeal to me and would love to have each time period be of a cozy length (which to me means a not-brief length).
Of course, I seem to be more lenient than many people here when it comes to judging what's padding, and what's actually not a waste of time. There's such a thing as meandering around too much, but to a fair extent I think it's nice to have some episodes stop and smell the roses rather than have the narrative moving forward to the climax at all times, refusing to include anything that isn't absolutely necessary. I think that every episode of a series should contribute something, but that something doesn't have to be the main plot; focusing on a single character, a relationship, or pretty much any given component of the series works for me. (That was all more of a random tangent than anything, I know you didn't really say anything opposite from what I wrote) |

So, it's not that I'm disagreeing with you on any of that, but in this case, I feel like having it go for longer than one cour might not be end up stretching it too thin. I usually slightly value show which are more compounded and written in a tighter fashion, because I think they get to the point they are in direct and stronger manner, and they don't waffle around too much. That's not always the case just going by some of the shows I've listed and I enjoyed greatly in the past, but there have been times were I felt like many shows could have been better had they cut down on parts and tried to not do too much. Less is more in those cases. I don't get the impression here that there will be much waffling, if anything like you mentioned it might be better to get to know about each time period better and get to see how ddo these kids change as they age and grow, but as a rule of thumb I prefer if they kept it short and precise. Of course, like I said, I haven't read the book, and I'm simply going by how it's a 1000 page novel, so I don't know if in those 1000 pages there is material to cover 3 cours or just enough for 1. I'd be more than happy to be proven wrong if the show ends up being 2 cours and they decided to expand and explore more on the novel here, and if it all ends up being a great watch then that's all the better for me.

Doesn't change it being the best thing on right now!
And hey, I never said anything about it being out of bounds or you shouldn't be looking ahead, just that this season's line up has a few promising series' coming up so it's going hard to figure out which is going to be the best (I suspect there are going to be a lot ties early on).

The sex is in the anime, actually: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8J-Vw...embedded#t=93s
It's kind of... part of the source material. |

I mean, the impression I got about the novel and the anime is that the way they'll be approaching the subject is by showing how children develop sexual behavior and orientation as they grow in a post apocalyptic environment devoid of the social rules and values of the modern world. The posters on this thread gave me the impression that the manga is mainly turning that into a fetish with it getting into explicit sex scenes.

The anime has a much less erotic and more stylized art-style so I'm sure the tone and execution of the sex will be completely different. |

25 episodes confirmed. 9 DVD/BD volumes - 1 ep in vol1, 3 eps in vol2-9. They'll probably cover each book in 8-9 episodes, which seems more than enough. |

According to a posting on Crunchyroll, the show will air on a satellite channel four days before terrestrial broadcast, with the first episode coming this Friday/Saturday.
