OP looked very promising, but the choice of music was unusual.
Story looks interesting as well. The level of mystery is just right. Fan service at the pool was a little annoying though. Damn, the incident after it was awesome. The mystery and romance hints sounds appealing enough. I will be watching this one!

Hmm... well, I kinda was okay with the first ep. Nothing much stood out, but it didn't push me away at least.
Though I liked the bgm during the OP sequence - pretty effective. I guess I will give it another ep or so. ^^

The first episode kind of gave a horror genre vibe to it and I know one of the genres mentioned for it is horror. And then magic got involved and aliens and now I'm confused lol Spoiler for Screenshot:

So far, the strongest pilot episode of the season. I frigging loved Elfen Lied, and this has the feel and atmosphere of it. Pilot pretty much set the tone of the story, while not feeling at all rushed or missing anything vitally important. And personally I really felt for the MC; it's really obvious that he feels guilty about getting Kuroneko killed, to the point that it's affecting the way he is living life even 10 years after. Then a Kuroneko look-alike all of a sudden appears, with the same face and almost the same name, only to have his hopes dashed? Poor guy.

"CQ. CQ." Oh man. That took me back to the 1970s when father and brother talked me into trying to get an amateur radio operator's license with them and we were learning Morse Code. That's one memory I never expected anime to invoke.
Ignoring the knee caught in the swimming pool drain incident, I loved everything about this show to my surprise. I will definitely be back for more if only to find out if the female MC really is Kuroneko despite the lack of mole evidence.

If the contents of the OP are any indication, that ED is going to cause some major mood whiplash somewhere along the line. I mean really, can you just imagine an episode ending on some bloody and horrifying cliffhanger just to have that soothing and happy thing kick in?

I agree with the user that posted about the Efen Lied feeling to it, right down to the obvious goverment facilities escape, the resemblance to a ¿death? individual, and the metalic injert in the girls neck, it's all giving me the vibe that this will somehow end up in a bloody mess.

I don't know why people are having such a hard time accepting the possibility of such an accident happening when, in the real world, this sort of thing does actually happen. There are plenty of verifiable incidents where people have died as a direct result of getting trapped underwater by a pool drain. There have even been incidents where the victim's intestinal tract was literally sucked out by sitting on a drain. Is this so hard to believe?
If viewers are not ready to believe such an incident can really happen, then why are they so willing to suspend their disbelief when it comes to magic and aliens? Illogical. |

Not bad, not bad at all. I liked this first episode. Having a smart MC it's always welcome. Except well, that I supposed he already checked kuroha's absence of moles during the pool time. I mean, ok that they were supposed to stare at different spots, but still those spots were not so far I thought that was the only reason to have that fan service moment that felt out of place.
And I liked the way they introduced the "magical" transfer student in this particular way, it somehow justifies the sudden usual attachment between the girl and the MC. And even the witch being explained in that way looks promising.
