Subs are out. Quote from the fansubber's site:
Went to the theater, found the limited edition Blu-rays sold out, and had to buy a copy off of Yahoo Auctions. Apologies it took so long this time. Between work, my other projects, and straight-up translating really, really slowly, this ended up getting pushed back and back. I do want to reiterate that we will finish these movies no matter what. I’ve been working on Tamayura since almost the start of my fansubbing career, and I plan to see it through to the end. |

Oh. That guy from the fansubbing group finished movie 2. Good. I watched all Tamayura with his subs. No reason to change it.

And suddenly I got plans for the evening
Excellent news! Great to see that fansub translator persevering with the translations.

Seeing the lyrics during Norie's sweets festival makes me miss dedicated fansubs like this. Gives the whole viewing experience a more personal feel.
As for the segments themselves, Kao's was the stronger of the two, though Norie's segment was charming in its own right (even if her brother was giving off some incestuous vibes, but with a stacked sister like that, can't blame him ). The real scene stealer was Kanae. How does she manage to keep getting cuter with each appearance? If biker moe isn't a thing, it should be.

For me Norie's part was just the icing for this proverbial cake. The star of this movie was clearly Kaoru.
For majority of the series we usually see Kaoru as the level-headed straight character, the one that the other 3 tend to "bounce" off of with their own individual quirks and personalities. I've always felt that she was the one who never really, how you say, came out on and of her own. With the other 3 having their own ways, dreams and ideals, she felt like that person who just went along for the ride who never really had a purpose of her own. Sure we could say to some extent that Potte's, Norie's and Maon's goals and choices weren't set in stone, but they had a general view of themselves and their futures. The series never really explored so much what Kaoru really wanted; all we usually see of her was how she operated in response to her friends. Did she only really go along for the ride? Her more grounded personality helped keep everyone else'... well you could say flights of fancies more directed. That is to say, the glue that kept everyone together. That in itself fit perfectly both with her character and with the way the last half of the movie was made. For someone who came to me as the one didn't keep her head in the clouds as much as the rest, she was the one who sorely needed getting her head and her heart way up there. It was quite ironic that the character who plays it straight was the one who didn't have a straight path in front of her. That's why watching the last half was such a joy. The character who I thought was always left behind by the rest, who needed her own personal growth, who never felt like she had a direction in life, finally got her chance to decide. A wedding planner, if it came down to it, fits perfectly with her personality of keeping everything and everyone on the straight road. The character finds her own path by helping others find their own. There is something poetic about that. I ended up watching this before bed. Tonight... I think I will sleep well. That it perhaps the best complement I can give this movie.

Kao-tan's half was definitely the strongest one. She has finally found her calling. I always felt the whole aroma thing was a bit weak, the profession she's aiming for suits her character better and is a clearer goal.
Oh and congrats to Dougou and Chimo. You finally did it, man! The girls' reactions to the news were pretty hilarious.

This was a veritable masterpiece for me: I see shadows of my own career decisions when watching Norie and Kaoru, and watching the second movie helped to remind me of what my own aspirations are after I defend my thesis.

If she wasn't able to then I hope they just do a montage of the wedding ceremony and have the perspective on the main girls while Dougou and Chimo get festive in the background. Having a different VA would make the absence sting even more.
