I agree with Psyco Gundam Mk. II though. What? Axis Zeon...? They didn't even participate in battle in this show.

Yeah, the only things they did in 0083 was donate the Neue Ziel and rescuing Delaz's surviving troops.
Though WHY they gave it to them I don't know, since if they had kept it and the Z'od-iacok rather than "donating" them to Delaz and the New Desides respectively and, instead, used them against the Federation/Titans/AEUG, situations in Zeta and ZZ could've drastically changed given their sheer demonstrated power on paper and in action.

The Gundams in Zeta have tinfoil armor. I thought the Hyaku Shiki had an anti-beam coating, but that didn't really help at all. And GP01 > MkII and maybe a little behind the Zeta in terms of firepower and speed. I wonder what's the fate of GP03. |

2.) Anti-beam coating doesn't equal beam reflection ala Akatsuki in SEED Destiny. And it most likely wasn't used ALL the time (which could explain it's much more "dulled" appearance later on as opposed to its bright one earlier). Anti-beam coating in UC was only really was good for a few shots and more weaker shots too before it dissolved anyway and who knows how many shots a MS takes off-screen. Also, the joints would still remain vulnerable too. The movable frame armor being thin as it is wouldn't help matters either. You do get a much better show of anti-beam coating at work in Char's Counterattack with the Jegan's shield. At one point, you see it blocking shots from Gyunei's Jagd Doga's beam assault rifle, and another time you can see one block a shot from one of his funnels too. 3.) The Gundam Mark II's only real purpose was testing out the full movable frame and based on its weaker armor materials and such, probably wasn't meant to see a whole lot of use beyond research purposes, unlike the Gundam Development Project Gundams which could be used for combat AND double as research subjects while they're at it. So the Titans losing them wasn't really a huge blow to them, despite how desperately they seemed to want them back; they just didn't want the AEUG to get them and steal what they knew about them and make better MS (which helped lead to the Hyaku Shiki and Zeta and why the AEUG failing to get them would've been a huge blow for them earlier on). 4.) Most likely collected and, subsequent to the data deletion of the Gundam Development Project afterwards, dismantled.

This was the fourth series I watched. This series was just horribly bland. The story was bland. The characters were bland. Everything was bland. It was so bland it became such a chore for me to watch and I was struggling to watch even a single episode. I don’t hate Uraki but there’s seriously nothing to like about him and that’s pretty bad considering he’s the main character. And Gato was particularly annoying too, what with his crappy holier than thou speeches and ideals. And Kelly for being a real dumbass and wanting to fight again just so that he can feel like he has a purpose. The jackass completely disregards his girlfriend’s feelings altogether. And then there’s Nina, establishing herself as one massively frustrating bitch right at the end when she feels the need to fuck everything up for Uraki. Well despite her douche-baggery, the last two episodes were mildly entertaining. But still, I got nothing out of this story:
Overall: 5/10

Well, the whole point of the series is to basically be a middleman between the end of Mobile Suit Gundam and shows what triggered the events that lead up to Zeta Gundam, which it effectively accomplishes by showing how the Titans first got established, technology bridges (like the panoramic monitor/linear-seat cockpit, like 0080 did, and also, with the GM Quel, the earliest bits of the movable frame that eventually becomes the new common MS frame after the Gundam Mark II), the influence of the Dendrobium (unused Plan 303 Deep Striker for the S Gundam of Gundam Sentinal, the Victory 2 Assault/Buster, and such), and so on.
Kou probably comes off as bland in that, unlike a bunch of the flashier Newtype pilots or pilots that more stand out like Yu Kajima (with his involvement with the Blue Destiny and EXAM System) or Shiro Amada (his whole "no-kill" policy and love-influenced actions) of UC (or the pretty boys/flashy pilots of most AUs), Kou is just your typical grunt soldier that just happens to find himself landed in the Gundam's pilot seat after a chaotic situation. He's not meant to be a super-flashy pilot in any way, but just an ordinary soldier just (trying) to follow orders, but with no real idealism like someone like Shiro or Gato displayed. As Gato called him, he's just "a cog in a war machine", going about like little more than a drone with no real purpose besides blindly serving the Federation. For Gato, what else do you expect for those who were completely brainwashed by warmongering, dictator bigots like Gihren and the Zabi family? It's not like he's the only one affected by it either. He's basically one of many fanatical followers of the Zabi belief, much like how many Nazis were of Hitler or suicide bombers and such. It's really nothing out of the ordinary in such a case. Kelly also doesn't come off as that strange, especially when you consider he went from a war veteran to a junk yard dealer after losing his arm and the war ending. Anyone who believes their life is so bland/unfair/etc would want to have some sort of higher calling or purpose that they can accomplish themselves or at least have a part in it and Gato gave him that by offering him a position in Operation Stardust. Nina's the only thing I really agree on (even Cima gets more known background, lol), given the whole love triangle that shows up out of nowhere near the end and never really gets explained but I'm willing to let it pass as it doesn't really have any impact on the UC story as a whole and, as said, the main purpose of 0083 is establish the link between MSG/0080 to Zeta Gundam, which it does. So while the story and characters may be bland, I think you're missing the point if you watch the series for those.

the story was bland? O.O
in my opinion, the story was very exciting. the main character isn't as flashy as the others but Kou for me was a lot more entertaining than Shiro ( I still don't know why he screamed "I love you" to Aina OUT OF NOWHERE. ) . I liked how EVERYBODY went crazy at the end. it was twisted and did you not like the models? the models were wicked!!! the mecha designers really did a great job. GPO3 was like.. WTF!! now i understand where the Freedom + METEOR was based on. the ending was like WTF!! they couldn't stop the colony from dropping, Nina ditched Kou, the Federation fired that Solar cannon thingy and even killed their own allies..! damn, it was crazy.. like i said, I loved how everyone went crazy in the end |

GP01 / Fb, are actually pretty simplistic. The only real difference, design-wise, is the Universal Booster Pods attached to the Core Fighter in place of its wings. Otherwise, it's not that much different from the RX-78-2 overall. Obviously updated tech inside otherwise.
My favorites are, obviously, the non-produced Gerbera (that thing is a monster in the Encounters in Space game), but also its "incarnation", the Gerbera Tetra a.k.a. Samus, lol. Too bad it was so short-lived.

To be honest, I've never been that interested in the designs and mechanics of Gundams and Mobile suits. In fact this is the first time I've heard of people taking an interest in that sort of thing. I guess it just completely flew over my head.

Gundam's 'face' itself is very iconic enough that it pull the fans both old and new to a series, not to mention the whole design and mechanics and weapons.

Gundam 0080 had some pretty gritty fight scenes. The Kampfer's hell raising in episode 4 was awesome, even if it was kinda low budget. (0080 had a tiny budget compared to 0083) I mean, he took out the entire Scarlet Team, which is supposed to be an elite Federation force, before they even deployed their weapons. Only one of the GM Snipers actually got to the colony ground, but then it ate a hyper bazooka round to the "spine."
