Yeah, had to laugh at the number of similarities between this and Asterisk, right down to the core[of the 1st ep]. I'd still give a few points in Rakudai's favor; Ikki was a more enjoyable protagonist than Ayato was, and didn't seem as...naive. All-in-all, I enjoyed both series and their respective battles, so I'll keep watching for now =09.

Weird, I didn't hate it even though it was very by the books and clichéd (I knew before watching it that he would get slapped within five minutes of it beginning) will keep watching until it gets annoying.
I think we might need a bingo card thread for these kind of anime at some point.

Here on AS is like 50-50 but as far as I can see we have just one guy going rampage because people who haven't read the LN's started a comparison between both episodes and yes they were literally identical but eveything changes from ep 2 for both series. By the way, they're going to adapt the first 3 volumes? |

Mark me down on the plus side. Ikki's pretty cool. That cuckoo offer to take his clothes off was lovely. (Although I have read part of the manga, and knew it was coming.) And the even more cuckoo -- but quite innocent and instinctive -- way the princess climbed all over him in his bed was nice, too.
The fight worked. It was one of the very few times I have hoped a fight would go on a bit longer. And after everything, the final fist-bump gave me a hit of emotion: they can be a team. Ousaka Ryouta's voice is smooth here, gives me a sense of Ikki's pleasant power. And Ishigami Shizuka is doing great, so far. She's real, and she's a textbook tsundere, and they both work for me. I liked Asterisk, too, though, so maybe this is just my first-episode syndrome, where the effort they put into the first episode and my longing for a show to enjoy come together in unrealistic appreciation. In any case, I'll be back.

That was...actually very good. The episode exceeded my expectations, actually. Hope they can keep the quality of the adaption in future episodes. Oh, and it always amuses me to see Stella acting like a pervert in all three media .
