Actually, I'm pretty disappointed because I was really looking forwards to see Suzuka breaking El Condor's winning streak in Mainichi Okan. It was such a cool race in real life I really wanted to see what the anime could do with it.

Actually, I'm thinking of dropping it. Horse girls are cute but that alone is not enough to hold my interest. I was interested because I thought we would see all the team compete but they just focus on Special Week. On top of that now they're changing history so she can stand out even more while shitting on Suzuka. That crossed the line.
I'll give it one more episode but if nothing changes I'm gonna drop it.

Watched episode 4:
Did not expect to enjoy this anime, but I'm really enjoying it now. Nice race, Spe-chan is improving herself by losing... she's learning racing techniques, also learning to enjoy racing. ^^ Looking forward to next week!

The show does manage to make some fun and intense races. There really was no telling how this one might finish. A straight up tie was a pretty good way to end it. That allows El Condor Pasa's legend to continue to grow since she still technically wins this race, but is a much needed bounce back for Special Week.
Nice job with the hype and the payoff in this race.

Talk about having your cake and eat it too. I guess it was the only way to handle it that wouldn't be insulting to El Condor's legacy. But it goes to show how the staff backed themselves into a corner. And if you ask me, I think it was unnecessary.
Now the question is, will the staff do the right thing next time and have Suzuka beat El Condor in Mainichi Oukan? I hope they do. It's about time Suzuka shows the world what she can do.

I guess a tie is all they could do in this situation to not ruin anyone's reputation. Still, I don't think I've ever seen a tie in a horse race: even photo finishes are usually resolved one way or another. EDIT: Apparently it's happened a few times, although not often.
Oh absolutely. When I was a kid I would watch it on TV, and I didn't even know what gambling was at the time. My family did the same, and none of them gambled. I don't do it so much any more, but I can still enjoy a horse race if I happen to see one. Of course, it feels more intense if you know the horses and can feel a connection to one of them. That way you're rooting for your chosen horse to win. You don't have any money in it, but your emotions can still get caught up and it can still be exciting.
