A pretty good episode, I'm beginning to get a feel for Leon and his dad now, I'm also pretty interested in the prince's story as well.

Marcelo was a pretty stupid and predictible bad guy, but whatever. And Zaruba, well I have no idea what that thing is, but I certainly didn't expect him to just sound like a regular guy whose voice has become tinny from the other side of a phone call!
What was up with that? The way he looked, I'm expecting a deep, powerful voice, but we get that?

Oh well, other than that, It was pretty good.

Actually, considering the novel info from that post by bakAnki, the other side of a phone call isn't that inaccurate a way of describing it .

But yeah, that's what Zaruba's always sounded like. Madou tools all pretty much sound normal, despite their looks, though compared to some of the others Zaruba definitely isn't the weirdest when it comes to vocal dissonance compared to how they look...

I also had the similar reaction way back to Garo S1. But you'll get used to it.

Zaruba is primarily a Horror detector, and also some sort of a personal counselor to Garo.

If I'm not mistaken that twitter account belongs to Mihara Michio, so I'm inclined to believe it. It says he's drawing the storyboard for episode 16, coming up next is episode 20.

There is something i don't get. Why didn't marcelo replace the royal family with horrors. And why didn't he kill the makai knight which was imprisoned in the first episode?

Uh, Mendoza is the King's treacherous advisor while Marcelo is Gael's assistance and an apprentice Knight.

And he DID kill the various Makai Knights imprisoned. One of them got split by 2 horse, remember?
The priests, OTOH... well, I won't go into details but the implications are rather blatant.

Can anyone tell when is the exact moment when armor is passed down to a son? At birth? When parent dies?

And what did Zaruba mean with paying with life for his/its? services- sounded pretty ominous...

I believe that only when the previous users is unable to use it and the successor is finally capable to wear it. Kouga had to train for years after his father die, but I believe (I haven't seen Makai no Hana) Kouga is still alive but indisposed when Raiga became the new Garo.

Generally I think then the armor will be passed down after the successor is deemed worthy by an authority, by Makai Supreme Court/Senate(?!) if the predecessor has died or by the predecessor himself if he's still alive. But the circumstances are different for all three Garos on the tokusatsu version.

For Kouga, the previous Garo that is his father already died and so he trained (on season 2 it's revealed he trained along with other Makai Knights-to-be kids on some sort of training camp) until he's worthy and strong enough to wield Garo-ken (Garo's soul metal sword). I don't remember if they actually show the first time the armor chose/be worn by Kouga though.

For Ryuuga, he's trained by a Makai Priest and when he's finally proven worthy the armor, which was basically placed as statue since no one worn it before him, flew to Ryuuga and he worn it.

For Raiga, his father (Kouga, the previous Garo) went into another dimension to save his mother and Raiga thought they are already dead. He then trained by Zero, Kouga's rival-slash-best friend and when Raiga is tested by Makai Supreme Court/Senate, they said he can't be Garo because there's still a Garo. It was when Raiga realized his father (and mother) is still alive, and then Kouga appears via some sort of portal (or was it inside his conciousness, damn I forgot >.>) to give Raiga and the Court his acceptance as the new Garo.

I think for the other armor it's basically the same, like what happen on second season when a father had to choose between his two sons to pass his title and armor.

Do note that only a male can become a Makai Knight (though I don't remember whether they ever had tell the reason why), but on Garo pachinko game there's a female Makai Knight, Yaiba (the red one on images below)

Not quite. From what I remember, the Tower of Spirit at first said that since Kouga is still alive, Raiga can't inherit the armor. However, ToS then said that Kouga just conveyed his will to them: Granting the Garo armor to Raiga along with a message.

I think for the other armor it's basically the same, like what happen on second season when a father had to choose between his two sons to pass his title and armor.

That's the case with Flash Knight Rodo/Lord, I think.

Zaruba consumes a day of its owner's life every month, on the day of the new moon to be exact. It's a small price to pay to get a total bro/horror detector.

Sure, especially the nameless one

They can also take student or even adopt a son to inherit their armor/title legacy anyway if they still don't have loved ones yet, which usually is a Makai Priest(ess). And even if they do have son, doesn't 100% mean he will continue the legacy since the son needs to prove his worthiness and determination to live as Makai Knight (little Raiga for once asked by Rei before they start their official training whether he really wants to live as Makai Knight and discard the happy life of normal person).

Rei is probably a special case where he doesn't want to take his own disciple (he did mentor Raiga due to Kouga's request) nor have a couple as he always "flirt" that he doesn't need any other girl than Silva, his necklace Madou Tool. As his name suggests, Rei/Zero will have zero lineage

I was rooting for the Horror in this episode... It's another dark ep with a very bittersweet ending.

No Zaruba, I'm starting to think he was a last minute addition to the show.

Given the next episode is titled "Gaia", I'm guessing that's the red Makai Knight's name.
