1) Death Note (I actually only like the handful of instrumental rock pieces, and a couple dark mafia themes... but damn I like them A LOT, some of my favourite songs ever are among them)
2) Samurai Champloo (some seriously funky tunes here... no big and powerful emotions, but I could pop it in any day and get plenty of simple mundane pleasure out of it) 3) Claymore (I don't think the rank is just because it's my favourite anime, pretty sure I'd consider it genuinely awesome even without all the pleasant associations it has in my mind) 4) Monster (didn't even like the anime, but the OST is great) 5) Neon Genesis Evangelion (my second favourite anime, love the gloomy and weird atmosphere and the soundtrack captures it very well) |

1. Last Exile. The Dolce Triade were perfectly suited to this, as were Shuntaro Okino and Hitomi Kuroishi.
2. FLCL - The Pillows are the best punkish band to come out from Japan ever. FLCL was made around them and it shows. 3. Samurai Champloo - Jun Nujabes was a revolutionary. He made such a brilliant accompniament to the series. It was fresh, funky, modern yet suited rustic Japan to the core. Sad that he's no longer alive. 4. Shingetsutan Tsukihime - It was a mutltitude of positives and its variances in style and pace for different scenes/moods were great. Violion and piano pieces were just divine. 5. Fullmetal Alchemist (original series) - Some brilliant work. Dante and Shukumei are just amazing in-episode pieces. A lot of good OP/ED themes too.

1. Kara no Kyoukai - anything by Yuki Kajiura really, she makes some fantastic music.
2. Evangelion - wonderful music throughout, very alive and emotional. 3. 5cm Per Second - mainly because just hearing the music is enough to start the tears flowing again. 4. Cowboy Bebop - One of Yoko Kanno's finest works. Varied, colourful and perfect for the setting. 5. Elfen Lied - Very haunting soundtrack, fits well with the story. |

1.Clannad-Dongooooo. Need I say more?
2. Bakemongatari-Staple Stable... I love it. Has a very refreshing upbeat vibe to it. 3.Jin Roh 4. 5 cm per second. Like the above user, I cry whenever I hear the songs. 5. Koi Kaze. Every single time I listen to Kanashiki Omoi I break out the waterworks.
