I dare to say that Stellar will be alive and well in the movie. Maybe not for the entire duration, but in the beginning at least.

The Destiny specials aren't completed yet and Stellar might live through those as oposed to the series.

Remeber that Mwu eventually lived on as well...

The ending is introspective.
The crayola scenes take place in Shinji's head depicting his own inner turmoil and mental growth.
In EoE the same event is shown when Shinji is dissolved and speaks with Rei/Lilith.

I don't particularly care for either endings (with a slight bias towards EoE), but I gather that was what it meant.

for the stellar thing ... I was like "WTF" wehn I read that on gunota. Why do I have to hear her voice again? oh well ... she's the first love of shinn (or so) okay we will see her in a flashback of him ... but then, why not flay too???? I'd like to hear flay once more ^^

I enjoyed EoE mind you and the people and NERV did say that its all in Shinji's hands now. He actually became God for a moment and Rei as his catalyst reshape human form to his liking, but since Shinji realized that wasn't the world he wanted, Rei granted that too.
