A beautiful timed episode with proper pacing to explore the new introduced characters: Urutori and Kamyu.
I realize certain resemblances among the winged sisters in comparison to the tailed sisters. Spoiler:
Anyways, the episode displays us the fluctuating cycle of life. The previous moment conflict cried out for war, then the next comes peace to provide time for healing and rebuilding what was lost to fluorish once again, as it is my personal interpretation on Hakuoro quoting if it would be nice for things staying peaceful as they are. And, in addition, the kids tearing the feathers from Muntos' wings literally meant him paying divine retribution for disdaining Eruruu's tea. |

^ Well, I doubt they'll do that in the anime though. I mean, it seems serious and well made enough (well, Fate SEEMED serious and well made and pretty much screwed up in that aspect after ep 14, but I hope Utawarerumono will respect the characters as they are developed now.)

.... so we all have been spoiled.. maybe they should put passwords on those innocent and super-tempting "show" buttons.

Hence I feel that she wasnt really sympathising with Eruruu on this, just that she was just sympathising with her own inward feelings. |

*finally* got to see this episode... and it made up for my mixed feelings about the "battle battle battle" of the last few episodes. Looks like a bone thrown to my wishes though since the next episode looks like back to violence as usual. There's a school of thought that the loud parts of a musical piece sound more impressive with the proper use of silence and quiet in the same piece.
Anyway, not necessarily a lot of character development except for establishing our little black winged beauty is a happy goofball (particularly liked the bedroom scene). I'm glad to see Yazuha get to sneak and have fun behind Oboro's overprotective smothering. Lots of happy fun bits and Hakuoro wishing it could just stay like this .... though he's hardly interacting with Eruruu at all --- she seems very very alone (points for the Onkami princess treatment of her). The Onkami aide's nasty response to Eruruu being humble about her tea was kind of odd. Custom requires one to deprecate one's own efforts and offerings -- what did he want: Eruruu to *brag* about the quality of her tea? Ah well, he got his comeuppance from the princess. Also Hakuoro's offhand remark about his connection to Eruruu just stabbed her through the heart ---- gah, clueless males... Rated it an 8 (very good) simply because the animation was mixed (some excellent, some iffy), and sticking all the "downtime" in one episode felt like they were shortshrifting it. Hope to see more episodes like this --- I *like* the battles but they mean much less when you don't get to see the reasons for fighting and why fighting should be avoided when possible.

The main problem with Fate Stay Night is rampant people spoiling everything without care.
The sad thing is, most of these people never even played the game and are just quoting what they know from Moonlit World. And yet, they have the nerve to whine about it when the anime doesn't meet their made up expectations. I surely hope Utawarerumono doesn't fall into that trap, but I already see the bad omens in the fandom. Please learn from the past. |

you mean the dragon? oh, yes that was absurb. However, I'll take that over a silly out of place sex scene like in the game. In regards to this, the anime was actually less out of place, and the original game is to fault.
but in regards to that, yes, I do believe Hakuoro will have sex with someone. And on contrary to what you said, I believe it will happen BECAUSE the story IS taking things seriously. It's a war drama, after all. |

I think you misinterpreted there. I don't have a problem with a well-placed, plot-justified, carefully written sex scene (and the events that lead to that). And Fate failed in that aspect. I don't know which would have been worse really, the actual sex scene or the 3D dragon.
So, if Utawarerumono does have a sex scene I hope they'll take the time to shape the events leading there (something Fate didn't), no useless fanservice (something Fate hits you with all the time after ep 14), and be careful about how you imply what (3D Dragon??? I mean, come on...). Da Capo was pretty careful in that aspect. We all know Nemu and Junichi made love at some point, but it was carefully implied as to not be crude and out of place. I would love to see something like that in Fate instead of the 3D Dragon thingie (or even Soul Link's fanservice sex scene).

I get your point, but I think you hinge too much on that one scene. And I still don't see this so called excessive useless fanservice that you speak off.
Did something really hit a nerve with you? If you are offended that they didn't take the romanticized novel-esque way leading to sex then well, you'll have to remember that not every galgame anime is a highschool romance. Sometimes things are meant to be a mockery/flawed/impassionate/ect Last edited by Takemi_Ikazuchi; 2006-06-01 at 13:22. |

npal's examples are just examples of pathetic writing... we should always ask for better in our anime. Is the sex or romance scene important to the story or is it there because the writing sucks and they're throwing T&A to cover for it?
So far, this series has been pretty spot on other than my own desire for it not to trample the character interactions in favor of action sequences. So far its been *fairly* balanced in that regard. Lets hope it stays on course that way whether or not Hakuoro gets any romance time.

You know, if they wanted to have sex, that's another matter.
But Rin feeling Saber, kissing Shirou "to get them in the mood" in order to perform the "mana recharging ceremony"... I mean... really, am I watching hentai here? I haven't seen many bishoujo games converted to anime that keep that sort of crappy scenario/excuse for having sex. Plus, even in a game, I'd think that excuse for having sex is pretty bad writing and it happens in many bishoujo games. I mean... damn, at least western porn doesn't pretend to have a good plot . They could have gotten away with the sex-> mana recharge issue like all other converted games that have discarded all the scenes that don't tie up with a decent plot. They can get physical for all I care, that has nothing to do with crappy writing. It's one thing to say "let's just have sex" and another to seriously baptize it "ceremony for mana recharge". That anime was nice before that whole crap. That and ep 18 needless Sakura fanservice. I seriously hope there's no idiotic ceremony like that in Utawarerumono.

Oh yeah, that, too. CG so far have been at least decent. I mean, while it's apparent that some sequences ARE CG, like some battle sequences, they are still not unpleasant like Fate's 3D dragon.
