ummm talisman is a core item for getting butterfly so if you get a talisman you might as well turn it into a butterfly..

Treads are silly for nearly everyone late game. You could save a whole slot that you'd have TP scrolls in with BoT. 'n 10stats and 35ias isn't a big deal~ Exceptions would be like... Furion.

well, most of ur ints ally gets BoT for def/push in late game. treads is still good in late games, especially for tanks. i rather get threads for leo, naix and sb till gg. if no one in ur team gets one, then yea get BoT.

Depends on how much is your "late game". If it's around 40 minutes mark, I'd say Tread is still useful, but after that you should just turn it's into BoT.

if ya have diffusal, Riki woudn't even need any boots

but, I still prefer Phase boots cause of the ms+armor benefits

oh and I also max cloud and blink strike first before I max backstab(this isn't really helpful in early game)

lv 1 Smoke cloud is good enough. I always maxed out Blink Strike first, and then backstab. Phase boots doesn't benefit Riki, since we're talking about a Hero with high armor at the beginning, and he can blink each 5 seconds, so no point of Phase Boots. Strength Tread is good for him, since he's pretty much focus fired whenever he appears (don't assume that people will stupid enough to move in cluster and let you use smoke on all of them), the extra HP mean longer survival, and with just 3 or 4 more seconds, you can take down one caster with Back Stab.

I usually max blink 'n cloud by 9. Backstab damage isn't very significant early on, and the higher level the cloud, the longer they'd stay in there.
And as underrated as phase boots are, I still only really consider them core for like... windrunner. =/

Mostly, threads are discarded and replaced with Boots of Travel when a game hits a certain point, then the fight becomes Backdoor Fight.

Believe us, Max Blink+Backstab then Level 1 smoke is the best start. I usually use Blink for farming at early stage, specially if I'm fighting against a range hero in my lane. I don't think about the mana it will cost but the gold I'll be getting. Blink strike enemy's dying units then "deny" your dying allied creeps, a great strategy for riki, that is, if you're not against a hero who can basically made Rikimaru think twice about doing that technique.

Uhhh,k. Lemme break down my train of thought.
Chances are, if you're SA, you'd be farmin' your ass off at 9. This means that any fight you should happen to encounter would be a 1vX. Given this situation, you would either... run, making this whole point moot; or fight. At level 9, unless you've had a phenomenal early game, people *will* choose to fight you. A level 9 SA can be brushed off like nothin' else for most ints at that point. Because they *do* choose to fight, you get all of *one* backstab per 5 seconds due to the blinkbehind. Holy shit! 47agi and a couple items worth of extra damage! I'm *pretty* sure any situation where X > 1 you'd be boned anyways, but larger cloud or even stats would be leaps and bounds better, I'd say.

And *really*? You don't get a 6s silence until you've maxed the other two? I think you're a bit too under-qualified to criticize me. /lowblow And since the introduction of quelling, SA farmin' has been ezmode. =/

Then again, the last time I played SA, the cloud still had ministun, so... grainofsalt.
