Based on the comments about the chapters, I'm thinking that once more, Yabuki chose the wrong magazine for his series... seriously, this should be in one of the magazines where, though perhaps not explicitly shown, the sex does happen, though certainly not at hentai level (speaking of which, the lack of sex and the fact that there might even be a plot are literally the only two things keeping this from being a hentai... and of course, the magazine in which its published)
though I think I'm behind on this because I'm a Lala/Yui supporter, and with Momo in the spotlight... not exactly interested. Once either of the aforementioned girls get back in the limelight, THEN I'll really start paying attention

No one loves Yui more than me, but even still, I'm having great fun with Darkness. Momo definitely picks up the slack, and we've seen the main girls in just about every chapter so far. |

So...

I knew this was going to be brought up here sooner or later. Why does everyone only read Shitkaku's article? Jesus...
The bill has not passed yet. And no, To Love-ru isn't likely to be affected if it does. Shueisha won't let it happen. Quote:

As long as TLR is safe, I'm good. It was already taken from us once. |

R-18 is generally a death sentence to most forms out entertainment, though. It's like a movie getting a NC-17 rating instead of R, or a video game getting an ESRB rating of Adults Only instead of M. It severely limits the audience, and the profits as a result.

This series falls no where close to where that bill is aimed at. The closest we've gotten to sex is groping and a brief inference at oral sex which you wouldn't get unless you were old enough to do it, in which case it doesn't matter.

It doesn't sound like you understand the scope of the bill.

if anything, we should at least be able to agree that by law, TLRD would be considered a direct offender. We can argue whether or not shueisha will do something about this, though I'm curious as to how it will play out. It won't go into affect until summer anyway, so we will either see shueisha do a mass boycott or find some loophole. But I don't think it's smart to declare this bill benign to TLRD. Even if shueisha is a big company, I don't think they can circumvent the law that easily. They can disobey it all they want, so I'm curious to see how the government will react to it. |

That's not it exactly. It's what they considered to be morally wrong, and content they consider whose abolishment is essential to the healthy growth of children. They more or less want to do away with the stuff that was mentioned in my above post. Question of the vagueness of the law causes concern for lighter titles and light fanservice, but TLRD is without question already in the red.

Ok, after reading that latest chapter (yeah, I'm slow) I have to say it seems this manga is rather consistently heavier on the fanservice than its predecessor. Not saying that TLR didn't hit this level, but it didn't do it in EVERY CHAPTER. Not that it's bad or anything, but there's been enough of it that some of it is actually starting to feel unnecessary.
Or maybe I've just lost the mindset I had when reading the original. But regardless, that bit with Mea... it skates real close to the line of being porn, and I'm not sure which side of that line it's on. Anyway, I'm still not sure about this shift in focus to the younger (looking?) cast. It's not that I don't like them, because I like them a lot. But I also like the not-so-young characters, especially Lala. I suppose I was really hoping that this manga would just pick up where the other one left off, giving us a view of everyone like it had been. And I already heard all the statements about how Rito and Lala's relationship is in stasis until he can man up, etc. That didn't stop us from being able to have fun with the older kids before. It took Rito 160 chapters to get around to confessing, but there were still plenty of good times with everyone. Still this looks interesting anyway, even if it's not exactly what I want. Shapeshifter girls need to remember they can transform more than their hair, though. The whole thing about Trans was the ability to change any part of their bodies into a weapon, was it not? Prehensile hair is cool and all, but it's only a fraction of what they can do. |

I don't think that TLR is in any grave danger.
Plus, the bill is laughably vague, leaving almost everything up to interpretation. There's no "list" of any sort. I see a ton of gray area and room for debate here. It's going to be a headache working all this out IMO.

Databook coming out in March! We'll finally find out what everyone's breasts sizes are. A To Love-ru databook has to contain that kind of crucial information. First Darkness tankoubon will also come out the same month.
