Actually the japanese are pretty chill about it and waiting for the last chapter to decide whether to buy or not the last tank.

Here is an innocent question, am I the only one who was a bit surprised or even underwhelmed that the cause of the whole revenge turns out to be from Yoshino? And that Aki was innocent the entire time?

Innocent or not it doen't excuse her behavior on how she verbally abuses boys when she grew up.

I also felt underwhelmed, or more like disappointed.
It's the kind of feeling one gets in a shounen manga, when a character that almost everyone hates, a character that did horrible, inexcusable things in the past gets a sad backstory that involves parental abuse or something that "made him/her this way", and when it is revealed, everyone forgives him/her in the blink of an eye.
What's worse in Masamune-kun's case is that it's a freaking misunderstanding. The whole premise is built on a misunderstanding. Is it really that surprising, if people care more about the ships, when we get these kind of quality stories?

I agree.
On one side, Masamune had some excuse because he thought Aki told him to get away in a rude manner making him grow to be vengeful about it.

On the other side, Aki suddenly lost a friend without receiving word about it and not only she didn't even try to know why instead she grew to be a huge bitch.

What I’m trying to focus on is that while I can’t say hate the series, but I feel a bit cheated that the revenge ended up a misunderstanding for both sides. Like, I liked the story BECAUSE it was a revenge plot
