Making last post since this thread might get closed anytime.

Thanks to Ando for giving a good effort on making Saimoe 2008 coverage a success, Aya for the graphs and Zephyr for the cool sigs. And also to the friends I've met here on this Saimoe thread (you know who you are). It was a fun ride, see you again on Saimoe 2009 everyone.

Well at least they didn't manage to get a "lulz" end with Tsukasa winning

Fate chan will have her year next time coming back better than before (aka loli form ).

Yeah, before this thread gets closed...

I would like to thank ando and Aya Reiko for presenting us the results throughout this tournament as well as in years past.

z3phyr.mp3 for the sigs that were created and distributed for all of us.

todkapuz for coordinating the rushes... special thanks to KaneDragon and neutralizer for helping set up the rush during the Final. That three-hit Hina combo was awesome!

Finally, thanks to all of you for keeping this interesting for the past few months. I look forward to it again next year in Saimoe 2009. Peace!

Good job Kagami.

Totals were about the same as the previous rounds. Didn't loose that many, but didn't gain any either.

Now Rena will take you home, because since you won, you must be the cutest thing around, Kagamin.

Omochikaeri!!!

Not that I think of it... the vote totals largely stayed about the same throughout the final 8 and even in the block finals with very few exceptions.
Even for the intra-series finale, the total of votes stayed around 2000 total.

So calling this year's tourney PHAIL or the like is way, way, way off the mark.

...

But I wonder by how much this year's overall vote totals were down solely because of the ban-happy staff.

After what you said, I do find your comment about winning Saimoe very funny. I feel even worse about missing the sarcasm in your comment.

BTW, thanks for posting more posters.
Not a problem. I probably didn't make myself clear enough in the original comment.

Thanks to all involved with the Saimoe tournament, not just staff but the independent creative fans who made all the fan material as well. It was great meeting all of the sensible posters who participated along with me this year.

What I'm looking forward to next year:

*Tsukasa somehow, someway, getting one over Kagami.
*If Strike Witches truly is the new Saimoe power it's being touted as.
*The rejuvenation of arguably the strongest faction (Nanoha) and how they fare against the new powerhouse of KyoAni, specifically Clannad.
*More stable performances by the Hidamari Sketch and Higurashi crew.
*Another unexpected series making big waves, ala Bamboo Blade.
*San Vs Luna. San...

This tells a lot about the impact of a certain saimoé over the jpn folk, imo.

Perhaps even a return of the Minami sisters...depending on when the 3rd series airs.

Plus hope for the return of Haruhi, for the wheel has turned.

I reset my expectation meter to zero, and I root for Nagisa again, hoping that After Story will change some people's minds.

How about Mizuki for 2009 desu kedo? hm? maybe?

Congrats to Kagamin! I was a bit worried last night watching the linear progression of the votes for Kagamin. But glad to see she pulled out.

Now that its over, maybe I can actually sleep! Yea! ...

Thanks to everyone that participated in the rushes this year... and participated in saimoe in general!

Few more bits from me...

First, Japan followed our lead... quite a few non-match rushees in the final rushes of the match

Spoiler for Final Votes, 3 or more votes:

See translations to these on a previous post of mine.. there are a few new ones.. but basically the same chara... some of them are CHINESE ... so couldnt make it into something that makes sense.

Congratulations, Kagami. Someone on my top 10 moe wins Saimoe. And see you all next year for Saimoe 2009!

I'd like to thank Ando for posting the match information for us and providing an interim graph of votes.

zephyr.mp3 for awesome sigs that I get to see (even though I didn't use it).

Aya Reiko for running the ttc and giving us updated counts as well as the graphical version of the brackets.

Thanks to todkapuz and KaneDragon for running the rushes.

Forces that I think will be big next year:
  • Index
  • Strike Witches
  • Clannad again
  • HnG S2 (hopefully)
  • Shugo Chara
  • Kannagi

Strike Witches will not be a major player next year. By the time June rolls around, Strike Witches will have likely have been mostly forgotten.

Sky Girls had a hard enough time winning a single round. Strike Witches won't fare any better.
