Oh my god, yeah. I just died laughing at that re-translation of Melt! Or rather, I'm going to die in a short while... man, re-translations are always win but it's especially nice when you try to squeeze them in Reminds me of that time someone re-translated those Pokemon names, comedy gold...
And I couldn't believe SPAM's lyrics were representative of Japanese SPAM (the only one I get on the family account is mostly what... "I found sexy oba-sans living in your area") - not really the content, but the way it's written. Until the end when I realised that yeah, it's actually possible (I loved how someone added a "-> CLICK HERE <-" thing) Also now tha I listen to other Naoto vids, yeah, his voice isn't usually that low. I had only listened to that sentai show ED once a long time ago but I went to relisten to it and Kaito's vibrato sounds exactly like his as far as I can tell. Cool.

This song really brings me tears...if you're into 5cm/second stuff, then definetly don't miss this. (I didn't cry at 5cm/s, but this song almost made me so)

Original link: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm2842838 BTW: I've taken to adding comments to nicovideos lately. I only put positive comments, and I'm sure by the way I write, they know I'm a Yank (such as deliborately putting in spaces, which they would not do). However, I hope at least I'm not writing mere gibberish. Example of latest comment added to a video: すごい! びじ うた です。 そして わたしは アメリカじん です。 Edit: Ok, one more: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/nm2842999 Edit: Still one more. This next one is not really to my tastes (its a little too...happy...), but it seems to be real popular on nico, so I thought I would post it: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm2843943 Last edited by Onniguru; 2008-03-30 at 16:45. No need to state you're an American. No one would mind (or care, really).
...What's a "biji"? >_> Not sure if I wanted to introduce this video since the encoding was pretty bad, but seeing how MadaoP doesn't seem like he/she's gonna do an update anytime soon... [ニコニコ] 【替歌】( ゚∀゚)卒業ウマウマ(゚∀゚ )【KAITO】 Piano altered lyric version of Umauma (CaramellDansen). Lyric = graduation stuffs. (March was the graduation season in Japan.) Touching lyric. ah crap...I knew I would screw it up. I meant きれい (pretty), but instead remembered the wrong word, びじょ (beautiful woman) ...and managed to spell that wrong, even ...also, don't I need a は after the きれい? as in: きれいはうたですか? (the ka is for you, it wouldn't go in the comments). |

When I visited the Cakewalk forums, a search there only found a few very old comments about Lola and Leon; no mention of Mirium at all, yet alone Prima or any of the Japanese Vocaloids. They also apparently thought that Zero-G created the software itself (and not just the voice font), lol. They were completely oblivious to the popularity of this program overseas. Meanwhile, Wired magazine did an article about the popularity of Hatsune Miku in Japan, then proceeded to give a condescending view about the whole thing, and then they chose for some of their examples from youtube some of the more annoying and trollish videos out there, bypassing (deliberately?) most of the better work. I think they had a couple good ones, but made them like 8-9 in the list, and put at the front of the video examples http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHabtGz33v8, which, while cute, would to most westerners sound annoying as hell, if that was the first vocaloid video they were to ever hear. Based on the comments by users on the Wired article, I don't think most wired viewers bothered to watch past the first or second video. Last edited by Onniguru; 2008-03-31 at 15:06. Well from the stuff I've read here and there from DTMers outside of Japan and other tech geeks (who aren't necessarily fond of Japan), it seemed to me like Crypton's Vocaloids are just "child's play" or "nothing much" - nothing new, anyway, something that's been achieved before (really?) and doesn't seem amazing. I remember people saying that in the first place Vocaloids shouldn't be used for anything more than back vocals...
Mind you I don't go often to DTM/DAW support forums; these are merely very shallow observations from a few cases. I do think there are a number who strongly oppose the personification of software into cutesy kitsch icons because it makes it look like a toy; I saw a few people quite annoyed by the introduction of FL-Chan for Fruity Loops Studio, for example. "We don't need stupid anime mascots in a professional program" - that sort of feeling. One understands why Crypton would be careful about Miku's image (I think the dakimakura killed that though). Eh, I don't make music or have any musical sense but personally I still think the best Vocaloids are Meiko and Leon, not the newer stuff Maybe I just like mellow voices.
