I think you were honestly expecting too much. If he was a Moriarty-like, behind-the-scenes, manipulative mastermind, then our straightforward, combat-oriented heroes wouldn't stand a chance. An antagonist like that would necessitate protagonists that are much more cunning than the ones we have.

Man I really want Dirk Dead! But hey I guess theres always that first asshole villain. But i'm also starting to hate Camilla and Ernesta. Mainly cause they remind me of the snooty preppy bitches from high school and now they"re starting to disagree on things and are working behind the scenes with dirk.

Anyone got any speculation on the venomous witch? Apparently shes strong as hell. Although I still give number 1 strongest to the little girl from the martial arts academy

I can't make sense of the fist Kanji but I assume it stands for two or twice?
Since the furigana is in hiragana, it should stand for some Japanese idiom, are you sure it's そえきばち and not そえきはち?
そえき could be from 鼠疫 (Plague), ばち could be from 罰当たり (Bad Karma/Curse), whereas はち could be from 蜂 (Bee).

On second thought, ばち could be from 雀蜂 (Wasp), making it Plague Wasp.
Guess this is one of those expressions that can't be perfectly translated, Japanese too complicated.

'Twin Ghost Bee' ought to be correct. As for the "ばち" reading, it's because the pronunciation is subject to rendaku; for example, "みつばち" (蜜蜂), i.e. honeybee.

Edit: On an unrelated note, can't believe they actually have the entire finals contained within this novel. Looking forward to it =D
