Here its somewhat different than Gundam because it is literally genetic, it is passed done on to each new member and always a factor with these families bloodlines. Its more common place too because it is never used for combat for the most part.

They don't mention it in the anime for some reason, but it is families with these blood red eyes that have various psychic powers. Shin got it from his mom's family.

Only thing different with Shin is the unique mutation but still fits with his ability to hear voices telepathically. Just super long range now but also a huge double headed sword.

One thing I liked from the 1st season in the last ep of season 1 is that they did the setup for season 2 when they showed the Empire and also young Frederica in the images of her former knight's hateful thoughts.

So are we gonna get some more boss characters with special powers that are uhh... because of their bloodline? We keep on getting these mind-reading abilities and stuff, but when do we get stuff like laser-beam eyes or Geass eyes? The girl's royalty, so I can totally see one of her siblings still being alive. Royalty... Special eyes... Ge..........

Also, its great the story is moving this time, but WTF happened to the ED? I had a good laugh when someone mentioned that it sounded like someone was passing gas.

No, we aren’t, because Legion are machines, not flesh and blood, so they don’t get special power just because they harvest brain of someone that has them. And no you won’t get stuffs like eye beams or geass eyes, because those special powers are extra sensory powers that mostly enhance their own senses
And no AFAIK Frederica is the last remaining member of Imperial family
And you don’t need to be royalties to have extra sensory power, some of the high-ranking nobles also have them

It's probably the fact that she didn't die completely enough when her mech exploded, and the Legion did cram what remained of her into one. They had to go back and finish her off to give her peace.

Shin and Frederica feel that way about all the people inside Legion machines. The other four know the feeling as well, just not as directly as those two do.

Time for basic training as Shin gets to pilot the Frederacy's new unit! And he basically pilots it like a Juggernaut, impractical as that is, but still cool. Eugene lucked out getting paired with the main character .

I thought Shin was surprisingly popular with older women and then he and the rest of the team get a new commander in Kana Ueada's Grethe. You know she's a Kana Ueda character with those long black tights, and sassy voice .

It was pretty decent of the Frederacy to find the team's remnant Juggernauts and make a shrine with the name of their dead comrades. A memorial to the fallen Eighty-Six. Although the team doesn't seem to know how to feel about it, they just want to get back into the action .

But the real shocker...FIDO! He lives! And he got upgraded into a brand new spanking body! And Shin gets reunited with his best boi! Out of anything, it seems like that actually made Shin genuinely happy to see Fido again .

We're back into action against the Legion, and the Frederacy's forces are being overwhelmed...until Shin shows up in a brand-spanking new ace unit as he tears into the Legion like he hasn't missed a single step. The Reaper has entered the battlefield .

Of course Shin's reputation and demeanor still sets people off even as she's separated from the other Eighty-Six as they get transferred to other battles in need of aid, but Eugene still wants to be a friend to Shin and hang out with him. You can tell that Eugene is growing on Shin and he's coming to care about him, in his own way. That plus they can bond over little sisters, although Shin treats Frederica pretty differently than Eugene treats Nina .

But then tragedy strikes when Eugene gets torn to shreds and Shin is left with no other option but to put him out of his misery...the more things change, the more they stay the same. Shin at least showed him Nina's picture before he shot him, but Eugene's other friend Marcel doesn't seem to understand that was all Shin could do for him. And as stoic as Shin is, it seems to have effected him a little. Shin really doesn't seem okay .

Did the Legion get stronger? 'Cause if the Federacy are being overwhelmed and each unit requires 2 pilots, then it's a wonder how they've lasted this long. At this rate, the 86 + Federacy need to find a Legion base / manufacturing plant or something and wipe it out.

Eugene was raising a lot of death flags, so it's no surprise he died, but his death was still pretty sudden. One minute he's happily talking with Shin and the next he's pretty much already a goner just waiting for Shin to finish him off.

At least we got best robot dog back.

They finally mentioned the term FeldreB in this ep. Cause that is the general classification for the units they use in battle with the Vanagendr and the Republic's Juggernauts and now the new Reginleifs.

The explanation for Frederica joining the squad was frankly rather iffy. They enlist little girls as "mascots" in order to motivate the soldiers. No pedo though, they just want to nurture their protective instinct. Still feels totally wrong, but hey, they're still the good guys because that one guy said no one likes that old custom anymore! So it's totally okay!
It feels like the author just wanted to introduce a loli as a main character and he didn't think too hard about it.

And even though they had a new mascot, the previous one, Fido, still comes back. He had by far the best death in the first cour, bringing him back shits all over that.

The rest of the episode was very good though. It was obvious Eugene was going to die so I'm glad they didn't drag this out. On the other hand, it'd be nice if the show actually gave us time to get attached to the characters before killing them off.

It seems like it's a practice that hasn't been used at all since the Empire fell, so really Frederica's just using it as an excuse to be with Spearhead.

That and her VA knows all about voicing mascot characters .

And even though they had a new mascot, the previous one, Fido, still comes back. He had by far the best death in the first cour, bringing him back shits all over that.

At least with a robot it's easier to explain how Fido survives .

Seen the chapter, Shin's group joined the army, although it is different from where they come from, also Fido returned which is good, and bad for Eugene it did not last long but in this anime that is natural, in short, to wait for the next chapter.

I honestly thought she was just making it up when she explained that tradition, but it turns out it was actually an old and outdated tradition.

Giad's military forces put up a stronger defense and have taken back quite some territory from the Legion, but they also still lose a lot of soldiers too.

The Vanagandr Feldreß are pretty strong, but their main weakness is the lack of speed and maneuverability due to being very heavy with its armor and weapons. They are pretty much a match for the Lowe but can still be overwhelmed with sheer numbers.

On the other hand, the new Reginleif is also very powerful but a double edged sword in that it is very difficult to use with its high speed and also lack of armor. It is still more armored than the Juggernaut it is based on and also much more stable too thanks to better joints and systems in place. 86 use it well because their bodies were forced to adapt to the speed of the poorly armed yet fast Juggernaut.

Shin's Reginleif has the same weapons as his custom Juggernaut with the blades and main cannon. The main Reginleif cannon is quite stronger than the Juggeranut. Also the blades are better too and longer. Reginleif is also faster than the Juggernaut too.
