Yes, of course it was a tongue in cheek comment. Just like how Harper says the old speeches with him praising far right policies were him joking around. I'm sure that his calls for Canada to support the invasion of Iraq back when he was in opposition were just tongue in cheek too. (Seriously, the Conservative Party in general seems to be pretty good at drawing attention away from its member's pasts.)

AN ALBERTAN FOR PM!? As in, there were 3 in 20-odd PMs from Alberta. Harper, Joe Clark, and RB Bennett. Joe Clark's PMship laster 9 months. Shortest in Canada... no wait, 2nd shortest. Arthur Meighen beat him (3 months). Bennett is excusable - the Great Depression. Harper... is another story.

*Inserts Hetalia's version of Canada and USA*
In my impression, Canada has always been contented to manage its own affairs, but come barking up their tree, and they will tear you a new one. (Those who fought them in WWII can attest to their combat skills.)

I thought ANZAC was stronger. Changi records attest that in comparison to all Commonwealth POWs, Australians, New Zealanders and Indians survived the longest, in the largest numbers and by %age.

Though I wonder how the rest of SEA is going to accept it - the valuation to the local dollars (using SGD and MYR as references) are already ridiculous. Quote:

I think that China would welcome a unified Korea, because it would bring more economic benefits. According to the stuff provided by Wikileaks the Chinese have no issue with North Korea collapsing and would even take in some refugees.
But if China didn't agree to reunification and tried to occupy a collapsed DPRK for itself, no one could do anything to get that land back. However China would still lose because this imperialistic action of taking over NK would lead to strained relations with everyone else in Asia and very bad relations with the ROK. |

And even though Canada's army is quite a bit smaller than the U.S.', I would never make the mistake of thinking they'd be some pushovers. I believe one of their army snipers has the record in sniping kills distance wise. I'm so glad they are our northern neighbors and on our side. |

Russia & Qatar will host the 2018 and 2022 World Cups
Congrats to Russia. And hopefully they'll make sure tourists won't get stabbed or robbed during the world cup if the wikileak story that the government controls the Russia mafia is true. Falklands oil found by Desire Petroleum Hopefully this won't lead to a 2nd Falkland war.
