How come there are no ratings for AKB0048? I don't see any on the Geocities site either. Episodes premiere on TV Kanagawa at 11 pm on Sundays and rebroadcast on a number of other outlets at different days and times.

The series is definitely doing fine for its timeslot, yes. It's pulling it more people than the previous show, Digimon Xros Wars, used to. I'll get around to making a few comparison charts (for Digimon/Seiya and Beelzebub/Uchuu Kyoudai) when I get the chance in the next few days. Quote:
I've been saying it ever since the broadcast plan was announced for AKB0048, but it's actually quite mediocre. These days, about every single show secures a Kantou timeslot on either one of the major stations or on Tokyo MX (the UHF station that broadcasts exclusively in Kantou), something the AKB0048 production committee failed to do. I still firmly believe that this is the major factor that accounts for the lukewarm response (popularity-wise) the show's been receiving so far - not just the no Kantou deal, but also the fact that a major station and/or more mainstream timeslots in general could've worked very well with the series, which cannot aspire to be more than a niche product on the timeslots it's on right now. Besides, the whole deal's just very paradoxical when you compare it to the other marketing strategies the series is getting, and which are pretty huge signs hinting at an attempt at reaching out to a broader audience - notably its various manga adaptations (including one in a shoujo magazine such as Nakayoshi), and its heavily discounted first DVD/BD volume. Except it can't really work if these people don't get a chance to watch the anime in the first place... (Oops, pretty long 0048 rant here...)

I've started toying around with the figures and plotting them, notably for the NTV Sunday morning timeslot. A comparison with the first 13 episodes of the previous shows on the timeslot highlights Uchuu Kyoudai's solid performance - though it isn't quite back to the higher levels that were achieved a bit further in the past with Yatterman, but that was an odd case where the show moved from an excellent timeslot (back-to-back with Conan) to 7:00 and brought a good deal of the original viewers along.
Another way to view it is to look at the timeslot's performance for the first semester of this year - Beelzebub had more or less stabilized by the end of its run (leaving the final episode aside), but new viewers are now being pulled in, most likely due to various factors - different genre of work being adapted and demographics aimed at, the popularity of the manga, and - above all, imo - the live-action movie. For those still doubting the 48+ episodes, I'll just note that if the show keeps this up in the upcoming weeks, it should be nothing to worry about.

I have no idea what those ratings on CX are since FujiTV doesn't broadcast AKB0048. Perhaps those are performances by the real-life AKB48?
I certainly doubt AKB0048 earned an 18 ratings on any outlet.

The CX ones were about the 4th AKB48 'senbatsu election', as a friend in Japan knows it. Oshima Yuko won, and it's apparently what all the schoolkids are talking about (no idea about other levels of society, but I'm sure it's one of the main topics in many places of work...)

Inazuma Eleven (in this case Go Stone) hits one of its (the ?) lowest ratings ever :
06/06(水) *2.5% 19:00-19:27 テレビ東京系『イナズマイレブンGO クロノ・ストーン』#7北原沙弥香(声) Tv Tokyo seems to be in quite a slump with a lot of its usual best rated shows doing quite poorly in recent weeks in comparaison to what they usually do. |

The first one might be Shukan AKB, AKB's day time variety, second one should be what Karice69 said the election. Last one is AKB's mid-night variety AKBingo, their first variety show. Other than that they should have 5 more variety shows airing nationally (or at least in most area), 2 of them prime time.

Hunter and Uchuu Kyoudai both with excellent numbers again. Nice.
Who's the audience for Uchuu in that slot, I wonder? A lot of kids? I would think the show is too slow-moving for most of them. Adults, and mostly not traditionally anime viewing ones, I would guess make up a very large percentage.

I am glad that Uchuu is really getting great ratings again(and good for Hunter x Hunter too, although I don't watch that). At least in this case, quality programming is being rewarded. |
