Backlighting on a subject will often mess up a camera's metering and cause the subject to be underexposed unless you compensate for it, and what often looks like bright lighting indoors is actually quite dim compared to real sunlight - your pupils just open more to compensate. It makes me wonder how did the cosplayer got into this outfit and how will the individual get out of it? And no, that's not a human-sized mecha model kit!
