Personally I'd say Mustang's punishment is worse than Al's. But that's just me.

I don't see how Mustang can do anything from now until the end of the series unless he gets his eyesight back. He can't even draw an alchemy circle without assistance.

Well..Mustang does specialize in manipulating the air (primarily for manipulating flames by controlling the flow and density of oxygen, although I'm sure the underlying concepts can be adapted for other uses.) Maybe he can use alchemy + the vibrations in the air as a sort of sonar?

Izumi has it easy, especially ever since Hohenheim fixed her circulation. She hasn't become bedridden or coughed up blood every since. She's just sterile.

Well naturally I meant compared to Al's situation after Ed binded his soul to the armor. Otherwise yeah, Al would've gotten worse off than any of them since he'd have pretty much died.

As for Mustang doing anything till the end of the series, let's not forget that it's not just his eyesight, he also has freaking holes in his hands now. Same hands he uses to transmute his precious fire.

So yeah, I don't think our dear Colonel has ever been as useless as he is now. Poor guy. >_>

Aww man, Roy lost his eye sight ; Hoenheim can't help him either, since it was taken by the gate. The fight with father will be tough now since Mustang can't fight at all.

EDIT : there has to be a reason why his lieutenant's name is Hawkeye ;D

Do you think it would be possible for Hawkeye to give Roy one of her eyes? I mean Hohenheim could not heal Izumi, but maybe she could get an organ transplant? Ed got "new limbs", Al got "new body".

xxxHolic had a similar situation and it was handeled very well.

He can as long as someon han guide him. He didn't lose fingers so he still can make flames. As long as someone says where is the target he can do it. And afterwards his hearing will become better and he mostly will be able to tell himself.

I actually like the idea of blind Mustang, now he will need Riza's help more than ever.

Excellent chapter! I love how Arakawa can be so unpredictable on some elements, but yet so predictable on others! Scar destroying the ground to get to Father? I think everyone saw it coming as soon as May mentioned that there was something "just below"

So what the Truth has been taking for tolls is not so random at all, huh? However like Gaimeguy said, it's so unfair for Mustang! It's ok to punish someone for attempting to reverse the law of nature, but Roy was so determined not to perform human transmutation, even when Riza's life was in danger...He just doesn't deserve this! And I still can't understand how a transmutation can be done out of the alchemist's own will...

And oh poor Al!! He was so close to getting his body back, it's just frustrating that he had to leave! But it's just like him to make that decision. And I think out of everyone, Al will get his body back in the end. 'Just wait there, my body!'

I doubt Hohenheim would be able to do anything. When he healed Izumi, all he did was rearrange her insides to improve the blood flow, he said he could not bring her lost organs back because they symbolized her sin.

So I doubt he'd be able to bring back Roy's sight. Though of course in Roy's case he didn't even commit the sin, he was forced to, which makes it even more regrettable.

The other sacrifices lost flesh and organs but Roy lost one of his senses. I can't get it why? maybe he lost only a nerve? but why not an actual body organ?

If he had taken his body, he'd have likely arrived at the battlefield in a very poorly nourished body. What would he be able to do then? At least this way he can attempt to help. Not like the gate would just let him sit there and wait Father out.

That's not exactly how the truth works... the truth takes something of great value from the person. It need not be a body part. Hell, if Roy's subordinates were with him in the circle, the gate might have taken them... being able to "see" the great future that Roy envisioned was one of his greatest dreams, and so that's why it just took his sense of sight away.

And i think it might have been a tad too creepy if it literally took his eyes... prefer the emotional shock, as opposed to the horrifying shock

Now Mustang aside, I hope Scar can beat Wrath for good. I like King Bradley's character and this seems to be his last battle. I do hope he gets to meet his wife again, she is the only choice he made for himself.
