Date a Live Material? If it happens to be a filler volume it might be due to Tachibana being a lot busy besides the light novel. I remind you: he's helping out with the movie; art style, animation and story, the new game too and something he did recetly with other authors that I don't recall. But it's a busy year for Tachibana xD.

If the title happens to be the main story I would be a bit suprised by that sudden change however that may include some changes in the main story as well. Maybe a small time-skip? No idea. Anyhow, I think it's filler

Didn't Tachibana say in the afterword of Vol 11 that the next one that comes out after Encore 3 would be Vol 12? Did Encore 3 afterword say anything about this?

I get the feeling that it belonged to Shidou when he was a baby. I'm not completely sold on Reine being his mother but there is little doubt that she was definitely around him at that time.

Mhm, That's actually pretty cool. Possible hints could be important someday. Is somewhere stated when this SS will appear? Btw, she is wearing a nice dress which also suits the hair style.

The anime cuts a lot of stuff. just a few of the hints:

As for Reine being Phantom the mian hints are.
1 origami recognized Phantom's voice when she broke through her distortion.
2 Phantom knew Shidou had sealed 3 spirits when she sent Kurumi after him.
3 She knew about Origami's want for power, Reine may have heard her at the end of volume 5.
4 the translator has stated the 2 have similar speach patterns.
5 past Phantom says almost the exact same speech Shidou hears in his dream right before waking up with Reine inches away from his face

Hints Reine is a spirit
1 the "sleeping" pills
2 uses ungodly amounts of sugar (comment by Shidou to be unhealthy amounts)
3 what happened with the Bandersnatch (she says it just stopped, but Shidou and co walk by what was most likely it and its head is caved in)
4 hair color matches up with the #2 spot on the tree of life

hints she might be Shidou's mother
1 her odd reaction to Shidou being near suicidal after his mother left
2 her extreme rage at DEM when she found out about what was done to Mana
3 her reaction when Shidou says she would be a good mother
4 the fact that she aways calls Shidou Shin and the Ma in Mana can be read as shin(true)

This is the Tree of Life a bit of kabalaistic mysticism that all the spirits are based on. The numbers in their names, hair colors, the name of the angels,even somewhat their personalities (those on the pillar of severity are aggressive while those one the pillar of mercy aremore passive )

Reine is connected with Shidou in some way, that is pretty clear in the story. Speculation is Reine is a spirit but not in the way of the others. The others have a number in their name but Reine is more tricky on that. At first glance she doesn't have a number but 2 of the kanji in her name can be combined to form the number 0. She could be the original spirit that Kurumi wants to kill. The one that leveled Eurasia.
