Was it a case of Self Inflicted or self ab-used? Some suggested music whilst we have an interlude: "You better RUN" by Pat Benatar perhaps?

Given all the problems that the tournament is having this year, anyone else think that the best thing to do is just end it abruptly with no real winner?

I've seen Mikoto voters in China making "summaries" about their "work" so I'm reasonably sure that most of her votes ARE multi-votes (not faction, mind, but multi-votes, using VPN gate and such), even though I'm not sure if it really amounts to 90%+ of the pre-removal vote amount.

Is the live draw still happening in a few hours? We still don't have official winners for some of the matches yet.

Is the mod that run this year tournament the same as last year one in 2013?

Some few times before the whole vote-removal stuff I saw Shasya posted some tweets on twitter about the foreign multi-votes that they detected but couldn't do anything about since they are legit codes, which counted to over a hundred, and China was one of the guilty ones, but I've also seen others countries such as Korea. Though at that time I didn't mind much about reading them so I could have been wrong on the details.

But honestly I believe if a voting tool could not serve the admins' purposes as much as they like, then it's their fault for all the changes they have made to the tournament. Last year some voters who came here also said that there are people who couldn't vote even in Japan because of some restrictions, and now there are "gaijins" who found a way to bypass all of their restrictions. It's clear that this tournament is on the downfall pretty quick and the admins taking out on the voters this way doesn't really help the matters (low vote totals and over-dominating series) they are trying to deal with at all.

That's why they have electoral rolls in the first place. If you support the concept and ethos of the tournament and are willing to back it all the way; then register to vote in it. Once you do that then all they need is some individual locked ID and once that number is cross-checked then you can vote away.

I'm pretty sure AST isn't relevant anymore with this kind of thing going on.

Is anything going on with this thing? Still no results on the last two matches, and no nothing beyond that.

And didn't we say they needed a new voting system since the current one was beyond out of date last year?

I'm guessing this thing thing is pretty much dead now, isn't it? It's been awhile since any updates.

Either it's dead period, or even the updaters on this thread have lost interest in it.

RUN literally disappeared since the last update about changing the date of the draws.

And I honestly lost interest as well, that's true.

So I guess the 2014 Anime Saimoe Tournament has officially abandoned, huh?

We'll probably won't know until we get official word. However, if it is indeed abandoned, then I wouldn't consider it a big loss, as the 2014 tournament pretty much demonstrated just how broken Saimoe has become (especially in terms of Madoka Magica and Saki).

I guess RUN was serious when he said his computer broke down.

Anyway, RUN stated 3 days ago that he plans to resume the tournament sometime this month, using a new computer. In other words, he says that he isn't quitting. No other information is given.

Seeing BestMoe and this tournament going defunct, the only Moe tournament left is ISML.

2010 was the best 'cause K-On! won all three of the tournaments by the way. Although RUN would resume the tournament, the credibility of SaiMoe is irrelevant for me!

More like how broken and outdated the voting system is. I don't think it's been significantly changed for at least a decade.

I really wanted to care so much about AST since this is technically the "original" Saimoe. I started getting into Saimoe way back in 2009 (it was already on decline back then) and I love how the system worked wherein every character is placed randomly and you never really know who will win unlike in something like ISML wherein the voting system is so fair that literally the strongest wins. That sort of thing ended 2011 and 2012 with the Saki and Madoka reign/spawn.

Now, you really have to question this Tournament when a character as popular as Mikoto Misaka (hahaha I'm biased) get less than 20 votes. How relevant is the tournament anymore when the admin can't even post results on a reason as stupid as "my computer is broken"? Even an elementary school teacher would laugh at you these days if you had that kind of problem. Never mind the fact that votes rarely go over 200-300 per character and how people can vote (last time I voted was 2009).

Poor Saimoe but the huge problem with this tournament is obviously the fact that the only people who probably care about it a lot right now are people in this thread.

I can only hope this tournament is dead for good.
