Character Discussion - Shirley

Ok, here comes another snippet.

Spoiler for writing:

"Lelouch, don't lie." The patient pouted her lips, as if she had just scolded a pet dog, only to have the mutt running off.

"I'm not," came his indignant reply. He quickly changed his tone.

"Shirley, you do need medication." His voice was now serious, and grave. Guess it was time for her to know a little more.

"Your body isn't handling the implants well." She stopped pouting, and gazed at her arms.

"Will I die," she whispered. She felt a gentle but firm grip on her hand.

"No. That, I promise you."

"Lelouch..." The emperor decided that a change in environment would be good.

"How about a walk in the park?" She nodded her agreement.

"Before that, can I change out of these pyjamas? I don't want to feel like a patient in a hospital."

He smiled.

"Sure. I'll wait for you outside."

He was admiring the view outside the villa when she came. She called out to him. He had a pleasant surprise as he turned around. With her little sun hat and white dress, she looked fabulous. If not for her status, the emperor would have gladly brought her along for the many functions and balls which he had to attend.

"So, how do I look?" Good, she sounds alright, he thought.

"Beautiful, as always."

As they began the walk, she held onto his hand. He thought nothing of it. It was a sunny day, but with their hats, the heat wasn't getting to them (White colours help to keep some of it at bay as well). Neither spoke; words weren't needed to convey their feelings.

All was well, except for one thing. Slowly but surely, he felt her grip tightening on his hand. He stopped.

"Shirley, is there anything wrong?" Her reply, was to hug him tightly. The sudden action knocked off his hat. But, it was the subsequent sobs which threw him off guard.

"Lelouch, I'm scared! I really am," she cried. As he caught her drift, he returned her embrace. Closing his eyes, he waited as she let those tears, and those fears of hers, out. He whispered, "I'll be there for you, and I'll protect you."

As she slowly separated herself from him, he reached for her face, and gently brushed the remaining tears away.

"I won't let you leave me again." She forced herself to smile. It was the least she could do to reassure him, after his gentle and heart-felt words.

"Thank you."

I'm actually a Kallen x Lulu fan. But the words that Shirley said before she died was really touching that it made me cry. Touché touché~ Dx

I thought she would've stayed alive back there when Lelouch commanded her not to die.

Indeed. No matter what pairing you ship I think you pretty much have to like Shirley regardless. Poor girl went through so much and she was such a kind and caring person

And thanks for the sig compliment. Of course I have blade to thank for it.

A REAL good job. But yeah, I wasn't totally sure myself if it was real or not and a few things did seem kind of off about that pic, but it's still awesome (and sexy )

I am eternally a Kalulu shipper, but I have to admit that her death scene is one of the saddest scenes an anime could ever provide. I did not see it coming either, it kinda sucks that she has to die after all that she's been through.

Well, it would also be boring if she just got the same geass power that C.C. did. Everyone should have their own unique geass power. Anyway, this topic has been brought up before and we've come up with a number of interesting ideas, such as a geass that grants the power of a second life and in Lordbear's fanfic Shirley has a geass power that allows her to physically manifest body doubles.

That seems like a big jump for a geass though.

Geass usually relates to the mind somehow. So it would make sense for Shirley to have a geass that would relax the mind. I cannot recall anybody having that geass power.

Never mind the fact that C.C.'s previous life was devoid of love before the Geass contract. Shirley's life is not devoid of love, so it wouldn't be her "wish," so to speak.

I'll admit yes, it does seem like kind of a stretch for a geass power, but it's still an awesome fanfic nonetheless.

Indeed, what kind of power a geass user has tends to depend on their wishes or desires. In Shirley's case, hmm...it's hard to say. I mean, obviously she loved Lelouch and wanted to be with him, but I don't think she would want to geass him into loving her. But I think what Shirley really wanted was to help Lelouch and be the one thing truthful to him. Perhaps it could be some kind of enlightenment geass that could allow Lelouch to see the beauty of the world (yeah, I know I'm being vague) Or maybe some kind of geass that could influence people's emotions.

Still, I'm not sure that Shirley would feel comfortable influencing a person's mind in any way, shape, or form, which leads me to believe she's just not a candidate for geass.

That is why I think her geass would soothe the mind (relax the mind). It would be good for people that are in depression. Shirley kind of gives this aura where she wants people to be happy in general that is why I think her geass would be what I mention above. Who doesn't want a geass that would lessen a person's troubles.
