Okay, this just weirded me out....
Is it merely something wrong with either my computer, or the copy that I have, but on Episode 11 10:29-10:35......why isn't Nayuki's lips moving when she's speaking?! If this is a blooper on KyoAni's part......it's an unforgivably huge blooper. |

Also, in ep 5 where Makoto caught a cold, the sound cut completely out for about a quarter of a second. Thankfully, I was able cover that one up (yay REAPER). However, I don't think there was anything anyone could have done to that item in ep 11 without ruining the show. However, there was no evidence whether that filling in that drop-out in 5 would be a detriment to the story or not, so I opted to fill it in. --Ian. |

Yea, the best explanation I could find was that the mouth movements were too small to register *cough* ... indeed, this wasn't a problem of the raws, that was what was really shown.
I admit that I was tempted to manually "fix" this with some creative avisynth scripting, basically re-adding mouth movements, but then I thought that tampering with the original is bad, so I left it as it was. |

Okay, so this is KyoAni's blooper, then.
If I had noticed this earlier, a straight -1 from my original rating from this episode it would have been. I mean, c'mon. Those guys can animate photorealistic cloudy skies....but they slip up on the basics? Give me a well-done foundation over extravagant posturing, anytime. |

Uh, no. Kanon is the only anime from this season I'm actually focusing on presently, whether it's as an anime fan or fansubber. (Not that I don't want to watch the others; I just haven't had the time or disk space to allocate, plus I am in the process of doing an in-town move, so time is REALLY at a premium). </belated> --Ian. |

Actually, I noticed the same thing the first time I watched it (Nayuki's mouth not moving during that sequence) and when I rewatched I think that Ayu's mouth wasn't moving either. I don't really mind that much since I've got to look lower to read the subtitles and since the animation in episode 12 was so great.
I just checked my SS-Eclipse fansub...@10:45 Ayu: "What are you talking about?" No lip movement. Aha. But still a great episode. What was funny is that while both Nayuki and Ayu do their Charlie McCarthy act, Yuuichi is unable to copy them. For some reason KyoAni decided animating Yuuichi was more important than animating the gurls. |
