Yes, Shiraisi is their sponsor, so it's same as if they paid their self. There is no benefit sponsoring kids with no special ability though and no doing laundry and snacks isn't even close to qualification. She may have enough word in project to let them in out of good will, but I would love hear why she should pay single cent for them.

More people go, more money is required. Again there is no single reason why she should pay for death weight who might actually endanger whole thing instead.Well at least you still didn't provided any reason so far.
You better come with sound argument why they should be allowed in, otherwise there is no point in answering.

Shirase's dead mother was their colleague and friend. We could also consider the possibility that - under strict supervision - they just decide to allow them as a gesture that will help Shirase find closure, and for a duty felt towards their lost friend. It's perhaps a bit romantic and not too realistic, but it would perfectly fit within the themes and tone of the show.

mmm I'm thinking about drop this show. I don't know if at the end this qualifies as CGDCT, but I'm not particularly fond of the drama in this. I don't know, the setting don't works for me, is a taste issue. Well, I don't expect them for getting in the expedition for other thing that plot reasons and only to find problems and problems instead of the play in the snow of the OP. I don't know, for many of the reasons mentioned in this thread and others that I can put in words. First, I don't like Shirase very much. I feel that she don't have the right mindset for this purpose (aside that the efforts seems to be in vain?). I don't know, the dissonance of the characters with the plot bothers me. I only give a more episode and I will decide.

Episode 3:
This was another nice episode. Really glad to learn more about the characters like Yuzuki. Honestly, I think almost every cast in this series stands out in some way either with their role or personality so far. I really like the way it presents its comedy too. That was also one heck of a dream.

Are we sure that Yuzuki's ultimatum was accepted, or will her mother try to undermine the deal? Are we sure that the expedition has no problem suddenly taking four teen-aged girls along instead of just one idol? Stretching out the "will they/won't they get to Antarctica" plot line adds to the drama. I think that's why the mother is portrayed in such a suspicious fashion at the end.
Assuming they get their way, I'd imagine the next arc concerns provisioning for their journey and dealing with celebrity. I expect to see at least one or two stuffed penguins find new homes in the bedrooms of our young heroines. After this episode I'll probably keep watching. I've always liked plucky-girl shows since I started watching anime with Mononoke Hime. I have to say, too, that despite how cliched and manipulative Yukari's "poor-idol-girl" story was, it still got to me. I liked her smile in the auditorium watching the aurora video.

I think the "how do we get to Antarctica" arc is over. The next few episodes are gonna be a little more personal. On one hand there's Megumi who's clearly starting to think her best friend is drifting away from her. Then there's the mysterious woman who showed up at the end of the episode with a picture of Shirase and her missing mom.

"Hey mom! Went to Antarctica on a whim with some people I just met. I'll be gone for several months, so if school calls asking about me, let them know where I am. Oh, and there's a chance I could die on this trip, but it's probably nothing to worry about. Talk to you later!"
