Just finished the series like yesterday... My vote goes to Ayu.. There's actually alot of depth to her character in comparison to a few others... The uguu~s are very cute, and I think I laughed most at her scenes (the movie anyone?).

Exactly, except for the Ayu part. Yuuichi's sarcasm is hilarious and Mai was quite charming (especially with the karate chops).

Makoto:
She's my favourite character. Her story in my opinion was the saddest for me, especially that in the end, she ends of dying. It would've been nice to see her live and see here more throughout the series. One of the most saddest moments in my Anime history when she passes away.

That's about it, all the other characters I pretty much like on an equal level, although I found Mai to by very funny because of her late reply's :P I liked Sayuri too with her "Ahaha".

Yuuchi: He's one of my favorite lead male anime characters ever! Most of the time they're so boring and dumb but Yuuichi is awesome. I love his sarcasticness <33

Mai: She's pretty, quiet, cute and she has a sword. I love her. I really wanted her to end up with Yuuichi.

Akiko: She's a pretty awesome mom and she's funny

But the best character in this series is definitely.... THE JAM!

U-Uguu! A-Auu! I chose Makoto and Ayu. There arcs made me to a point of almost crying. There catch phrases were so catchy to haha.

Just finished the series, so I'm coming to this discussion a bit late!

I liked Mai and Nayuki best. I never bought Ayu as a romantic interest -- she was just too childish, and the shift from sibling-type relationship to romance seemed forced.

Mai is awesome, obviously. And Nayuki is just a really good person; she never shows a hint of jealousy while watching Yuuichi spend time with every other girl but her. She chides him a bit at the end, I guess, but her mom was in a coma and Yuuichi was making a very lame attempt to comfort her. Her kindness to Ayu is wonderful to watch. I like Yuuichi too, but the way he ignored and took her for granted throughout the series did lessen my opinion of him slightly.

So, I'd have been much happier if Yuuichi ended up with Mai or Nayuki. But I'm used to my favorite pairings not happening...

1. Sayuri - Her mad skillz with swordfighting were just too awesome XD Plus the fact that she befriended Mai when she was alone. She took Yuuichi's weird humor in stride too. All around good nurturing big sister type. :]

Akiko's Jam: The most evil character, nothing compares to it's power. Fear akiko's Jam!

Piro: The most intelligent character. Doesn't worry about love, when there's trouble it just dissapears. Knows how to ask for food and managed to get a nice place to sleep. Admirable! Not many people can ever reach that point in their lives!
