The tower was visible in railgun s like at least 5 times I think, and it definitely appeared in episode 24 lol. But I think people are calling it a retcon (if I have this right) because Kamachi only thought of the idea of including Endymion after he started the story and hadn't mentioned it until then... and because apparently it wasn't a main plot point at the beginning, it is necessarily a retcon because it is only important after it is explained part-way through the story? Though... funnily enough, now that you say it... Railgun S episode 5 occurs chronologically before most of Index 1 & 2, which would make the retcon less glaring... but Endymion still never really appeared in the Index anime except for the movie. To be fair, I don't really see why it even matters at all, unless it makes people uncomfortable because they might feel like Kamachi might screw a plan he has already had up if invites a new plot device and treats it as canon. I personally don't think this would happen, but I guess it's a possibility to be worried about? My real question here though is why it's merely a side-story after having like a movie, multiple references in Railgun S, canon-acknowledgements in the main light novel series (twice! in two different books), multiple games created to add to it, and a light novel prequel to the movie... I mean, I guess that if you thought that all of this effort was JUST to make this an acceptable retcon then this would probably be annoying, but wouldn't it be more reasonable to assume that this is supposed to have some important significance on the story later on? I mean... Otherwise, why would Kamachi go to so much trouble to do this anyway? That's the only thing I could really think about that actually makes sense here. After all, there are other things that he has retconned (perhaps), but hasn't put nearly as much of a deal into making it work... (deep blood in the Index manga?) So, I'm wondering if indeed this is more important than people assume it is...? I haven't seen Kamachi call anything that he came up with non-canon or even really semi-canon yet... especially when he writes the plot for it himself... |

He refers to it as the Togashi Disease. Glad to hear that Togashi's infamy is well known even among the mangaka of Japan.
But as the new arc hasn't started yet, the reveals in V10 still feel fresh and we've waited 3 months anyway, I'm not complaining for now. Actually catch the Togashi Disease and then we'll have a problem.
