Goddammit... stabbings, mutilations, ultraviolence...
My 14-16 years old nieces were really enjoying this series, now I'm gonna have to break it down to them that their viewing of this series (and The 100) has been terminated til they're 18. |

I think he's the one doing the killing, but she still just stood there and watched.

Okay, so the tally for the season finale:
Falcone's retiring and leaving town. Selena joined Team Fish and totes a shotgun. (and Fish's terrible new haircut -_- ) Maroni's dead. Fish is (supposedly) dead. (no body, no death, but it doesn't look good for her) Penguin stands unchallenged in the Gotham Underworld. (barring any new mob bosses brought in for season 2) Barbara has officially gone insane; she announces that she did kill her parents herself, right before she goes after Lee with a knife. Bruce has discovered the future Batcave. (along with whatever his father was hiding down there) Oh, and the Riddler is starting to show his face.

Where is everybody? Season 2 has started with a sizeable bang.
As much as it was expected, it hurt seeing Essen go out. She was one of the first people that Gordon fully brought out into the light along with Bullock. But as with any other good guy non-main character who gets a high position of power, it was obvious she'd either have too little pull to use her position for enough good or just be killed off before she could do any good. So it looks like our Joker candidate from season 1 is really being raised into the actual Joker. And his actor is doing a dang fine job of puilling it off. Despite all the dark ihe was spreading, I couldn't help but grin at how well he was playing the Joker. I really wonder how Barbara's character is going to recover from all this. At first I thought she was leading Gordon out of the precinct to save him from the coming slaughter, but it turned out she did it for nothing more than kicks; she really has gone insane. How the heck does she become Barbara Kean Gordon after all this? Now honestly; I know this is a comic-based series, and seeing the heroic government swooping in to restore order just doesnt work, but with all this crine, all this widely-recognized corruption, and now a police precint slaughter, how the heck could the national government not step in? This all just feels so much like somebody higher up should be working on solving this huge and rampant problem.

On the one hand, Alfred's little crush was cute, on the other hand, I don't know what they're doing with Barbara and Jerome, especially at the end there. As for Bruce, they're continuing the foreshadowing, which is good I suppose. It's nice to see Selina too.

So they finally took down Galavan, Nigma is fully criminal now and Bruce has hardened his resolve to clean Wayne Industries (and eventually, Gotham)...
Sarah is batshit insane, and Penguin will be back.. Also, I can't help but distrust Vic Mackey, somehow he will go wrong

Wow, this latest episode. Definitely made to be a feel-good episode with Parks and Eduardo at the end. Built her up so we'd like her and figure her a Gordon loyalist only to kill her off in slow motion in such a violent, painful, terrifying manner to make Gordon (and us) suffer her loss. Reminds me of the ending to The Mist. (the newer one) I had to watch a week of happy ending movies and anime to recover from that depression.
And I knew that was too easy taking down Galavan, as we see in the next episode preview that he's released. But how? The mayor himself (whether former or not) directly accused him of kidnapping and torture, so how the heck is he released? Even in Gotham, they have to have some kind of legal grounds, whether made up or not, for releasing him from prison for major felonies.

Just finished watching the first two seasons and I'll probably catch up with season 3 soon.
Wow, this has been quite a ride. I mean, Ben McKenzie's acting as James Gordon is phenomenal. Same with David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne. I feel like the show explored the city of Gotham and all the characters in ways that I wasn't aware of before. I grew up watching the Batman and I've always been interested in the lore. Some of my favorite characters in the series are Oswald Cobblepot, Jerome Valeska, and Selina Kyle so far. Meanwhile, season 2 introduced new dangerous antagonists and classics like Mr Freeze, Firefly, etc that reminded me of my childhood. I think the finale of the second season sets up well for season 3. The production values are really good for the show and gives off the darker feel of Gotham especially season 2. The cast are very talented that makes the series overall a memorable ride.
