When I saw the dozens of dead magical girls laying in their blood I already knew I would like this show. And then the childhood friend guy became a hot chick magical girl aka dragon knight, ha, awesome! XD
Guess halving means 7 have to die meaning having pairs will be very important to increase your chances of survival. Good on Sou-chan and Koyuki that they already knew each other from before.

Seen the episode now. It's like one of those memes , tap the screen and
A) you become a superhero, but B) being a superhero is actually a real-life shitty freemium MMORPG game. Snow White's been grinding like hell this first week, so everyone's already wary of the n00b who climbed the scoreboard . Also, the bit with Sou-chan was quite unexpected - granted, genderbending transformation was already seen in I Wanna be a Twintail (remember that show?) but it was still quite a surprise. Seems a nice set up. Now of course we go straight into the murdergame part (Lerche seems to be specialising in that, it did all the Danganronpas, and also AssClass which wasn't about a murder game per se but definitely had kids killing someone as the central theme).

I'm want to ship Koyuki and Souta hard...... in a single episode, their chemistry is incredibly well established, and I wonder whether they are going to form a battle couple. And the idea of male Magical girls - while it has been done in "I wanna be a Twintail" can potentially be interesting.
But then, the ending happened, and it seems we are going into some kind of survival game. It seems quite obvious that how bright or dark this show is going to be, is going to be dependent on the consequences of losing your magical girl status. |

But since they're only HALVING the number that means they can still work in teams (in fact it's better for them if they do), and friends definitely will stick together. Betrayal is a possibility but it shouldn't be the rule. I definitely think Koyuki and Souta will stay together probably until the end, with a mild chance of Souta kicking the bucket somewhere down the line. On the topic of shipping... Spoiler for Me being ~lewd~:

I think Souta has a death flag on him with swearing to protect Koyuki while being a knight in a Battle Royal Magical girl universe. Probably dies protecting her and she changes due that loss and becomes more proactive in fighting other Magical girls.
I wonder what happens to the unique abilities of the girls, will they be lost if they lose their status or will the magical girl which survives take them over especially if they are the ones which beat/killed the magical girl in hold of said power. If the latter then Koyuki will surely be a huge target due her ability to find troubled people which makes it easy to earn candy points to go up in score.

An early death flag sounds possible. Since the next episode is about gathering magic candies, maybe someone read the T&C and discovered if you kill someone, you get all their magic candies and ability. Which would be faster.
Adding on, since our MC's ability is almost akin to magic candies farming, everyone else will target her and take her out first. |

Even though the first op scene can lead to think of higher stakes.
I think losing will just make them lose their powers/memory. But they can still die in the struggle of trying to beat eachother during the contest which is just an outside influence on the contest itself.

Interesting show, and some nice chemistry between characters...one thing bothers me though: why did they (whoever set up this magical girl system) wait until there were 15 magical girls to decide to cut their numbers in half.
It's like they went on vacation, left the system on auto-pilot, and when they came back there were too many magical girls so they went "We gotta do something about this..." Still, I'm curious how this plays out...most of us (me included) are already predicting Souta sacrificing himself to protect Koyuki. He pretty much triggered a death flag when he pulled a Knight's Oath

Well I don't think I ever saw something being illogical/stupid in Mahoiku's novels so far. Things usually have a logical explanation attached to them, so if there's something that sounds stupid, you're better off thinking that this just SOUNDS stupid and isn't actually stupid.
Just saying, so that you can really enjoy thinking of why things are happening rather than hesitating if it really has a reason or if it isn't just bad writing with no proper explanation. on purpose or not is another matter, but it's not stupid .
