They live on as the upgraded AASC she left behind but the specific Lacia personality could not be backed up due to hardware limitations so it isn't as lame as it sounds

After watching the latest episodes, I sympathize a lot with Lacia and Erika.

For Erika, she woke up in a world having lost everything; her friends and her family. Current society say its a miracle but Erika didn't think so. I actually don't blame her for wanting society to burn.

Even if what Lacia did might be considered against human morals but seeing what current humanity is like, I actually agree that society has to change. Analogue Hack and Humans should take back from hIE, all this is bigotry. You can only call Lacia dangerous if you actually think shes dangerous and yet bigotry is still bigotry.

The anime's explanation of the First Hazard is seems different from what you described. Is this an original change?

No it isn't. And there is no difference...more like the anime isn't as detailed in the explanation.

Ariake did indeed act on its own accord without government sanction to redirect electrical power resources. It was tasked with the relief and reconstruction efforts and it determined that its own running was of essential priority but because all backup generators were being used by the hospitals and medical centers, it hijacked resources from areas surrounding the Kanto region instead. Naturally the inhabitants there started to revolt and protest but the general society instead for some reason demanded the protestors be put down instead, so Ariake took this as carte blanche to leave them to starve while allowing those who would work in the reconstruction access to resources. It was implied that Ariake saw all this purely as part of a logistics plan though, not because it maliciously wanted a huge chunk of humans dead. If anything, it simply didn't care

I'm yet to finish it myself, but from what I've read Lacia doesn't get a memory wipe (or rather the new Lacia sent to Arato has previous one's memories installed).

Ah. From what I remember, in the novel's ending all Lacia units were gone. At some point Arato meets hIE that looks similar to his Lacia and who asks to become her replacement. He hesitates (knowing she has nothing to do with his Lacia), but eventually accepts knowing that Lacia wouldn't want him to be alone forever. That's what I've read at least (sadly I don't remember where I've found that info).

Oh~ So, the light novel have multiple endings? I'm curious on how Marriage died in that ending though, since in this anime, Marriage is the only survivor.

Book ending "Lacia" is implied to be completely different from actual Lacia, sharing only the external appearance and whatever directive software Lacia uploaded to the hIE cloud. And no, Marriage survives there as well.

Have yet to watch the anime end myself so I won't comment on that
