I liked this episode since it had the right mix of both telling us about character traits while at the same time showing them. Although it looks like we might never find out who the other people that say through Kudou's trick were. Speaking of Kudou he looks real different from what I expected.

they properly gonna cover mayumi and mari competition,tatsuya meeting up with the other independent magic battalion member,and it will properly end with volume 3 chapter 5 last part

also do you think they will skip/remove some of the mayumi scenes that are up next I hope they don't she's one of my favs.

Katsuto need a barrier that's have enough interference to stamp down all the rampaging sequence. And if he want to include a barrier to protect again everything he need to include many more variables - longer casting time, and considering a car is flying at them in a matter of second, will he even be capable of erect a full scale defense barrier in that time.
To be honest, go read the novel, the author describe pretty well the reason.
