I think it's a rating of how movies did in their opening weekend. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
Awesome to see Haruhi ranked second. Look at the percentages of demographic viewers Just one question; What are Toy Story Little Green Aliens doing up there?! |

We're not saying that "it's a good movie because it's doing well", we're saying that "it's doing well, and this is a good thing for Haruhi fans." Obviously we can't make any kind of judgment as to the quality of the film until we ourselves see it. |

So what are these numbers, graphs and pie charts supposed to be all about anyway? If those percentages are supposed to be a rating of the quality of the movie then Japanese "critics" may just be the most generous and forgiving reviewers ever when Famitsu is factored in as well. Everybody probably knows my feeling on the credibility of Famitsu reviews and whatever this is supposed to be leaves me wanting to take it about as seriously. Edit: Alright incoming theory. These are scores based off of ratings that movie goers were asked to give out upon viewing the film on opening day and 2-3 select ones got printed in the magazine. Perhaps by lot or otherwise. That would definitely explain how a movie like Haruhi is able to have such inflated scores and compete with a movie like Invictus with it's wider audience of varied tastes. Honestly though I still don't see what good this ranking does for anybody though. |

No, but stop beating up the strawman. Even if I am doubtful of the movie's quality, I don't really understand where this greatest movie thing even comes from.

At least something is doing better than it, right? Just joking around with you there... But seriously, Kaioshin... and this is coming from a guy that has been consistently critical of E8 since the airing of Part 4 or 5 of it... I think that the reactions of Haruhi fans to the movie has been downright polite and reserved. This thread isn't really the overflowing "hype central" like I thought it would be (Nanoha's movie thread is way more active than it), and honestly, that's something I tip my yellow headband to my fellow Haruhi fans for. Yes, there's been plenty "The movie is a success!" cheerful shouts, but that's not really like saying "The movie is the best thing EVAR!!1!". It's just saying that the movie is a success. We're not comparing it to Citizen Kane, lol.

Kaioshin, once upon a time (2 weeks ago to be exact), I thought you were just playing devil's advocate or doubting Thomas.
Now you are become just too obvious in your dislike of Haruhi. Why am I not surprised that your posts are full of anti-Haruhi rhetoric? You don't like it, fine. But don't pour water on our parade. |

--- Regarding the exit survey, I would suspect that the ratings would be rather high because the opening weekend crowd will consist of a lot of novel readers and franchise fans, and it seems the movie was quite faithful to the novel overall. But that also fits the sort of movie this is with its limited release -- it's not really exactly a movie for "everyone" anyway, given that it picks up in the middle of a pre-established story. So in a sense these sort of rankings are probably more useful as an indicator of whether existing fans of the series will like it -- and, suffice it to say, signs point to yes. Don't know if it was ever meant to pull in new fans anyway; it's not that sort of movie.
