“Aww, poor puppy, you do you belong to?” cooed Nanoha lovingly to a lost-looking dog, “Are you lost?”
The small poodle shivered and whimpered at the attention. Nanoha’s heart broke as she saw the lost expression on the dog’s face and wrapped her arms around it.
“Don’t cry, puppy,” Nanoha said tearfully, “Let’s find out who you belong to.”
Nanoha winced as a dull pain rode up her back, and she rounded the corner to see if the puppy’s owner was anywhere to be found.
“Where’s Fate?” Nanoha mumbled to herself, “She would know where to find his owner.”
The image of her beautiful partner’s face flashed before her mind’s eye, but her vision dissipated as soon as she saw an old woman shuffling down the hallway.
“Excuse me, Ma’am? Does this puppy belong to you?”
“Hello, Nanoha, dear,” the old woman replied, “No, he’s not mine.”
Nanoha narrowed her eyes in confusion. “How do you know me?” she asked while her hold on the puppy tightened.
“You’ll be fine,” the old woman giggled as she shuffled away.
“Wait!” Nanoha shouted, “What do you mean by 'fine'?”
“That’ll you’ll be fine,” the woman chuckled again, “She'll be here in a few minutes.”
“Fate?”
“Yes, dear,” she answered, “Little Fate will be here soon.”
“How do you know Fate? How do you know me?”
The old woman turned her back and slowly walked away singing a little song, “The rose in the garden slipped her bud, and she laughed in the pride of her youthful blood….”
Nanoha stood still in shock and confusion as she watched the old woman disappear behind another corner, but the small dog in her arms nuzzled her chest. The perplexed woman patted the small poodle in her arms unconsciously, and the dog licked her hand affectionately in return.
“Where did Fate go?” Nanoha asked herself. Her mind pricked her memory stores. She knew where Fate had gone, but she couldn’t remember where her lover had gone for the life of her.
A young woman who was dressed professionally passed her without so much as a nod.
“Excuse me,” Nanoha said clearing her throat, “Does this little guy belong to you?
“Ick!” the woman sneered, “Get that thing away from me!”
Nanoha shielded the small dog as the woman tried to smack the defenseless animal out of Nanoha’s arms.
“Are you that heartless?” Nanoha growled warningly, “Don’t you dare touch this sweet puppy!” Nanoha could feel the small dog’s tail wag slightly.
“What’s going on here?” a middle-aged man said as he stepped between the two women.
“Sir,” Nanoha said, “I’m trying to find this dog’s owner. He’s lost, and this jerk is trying to hit him.”
The man shook his head and glared at the woman, “Dr. Jeffrey-“
“I’m sorry!” the woman apologized, “But sir-“
The man held up his hand, and the gesture silenced the woman. He then turned to Nanoha and the shivering puppy in her arms. “Why don’t you sit over here, Nanoha?”
Nanoha tilted her head in confusion, “How do you know me? Have I met you before?”
The man tried to give her a comforting smile as he directed her to a large overstuffed chair. “Just wait here for a little while, Nanoha. Fate should be along in a few more minutes,” he said soothingly.
At this point, Nanoha felt a growing fear blossom from her mounting anxiety, and she struggled to remember where she had met all these people. And where had Fate gone?
It was too much, and Nanoha hugged the small dog tightly as tears streamed down her cheeks.
“She’ll be here soon,” the man said softly as he patted her back.
“Fate…” Nanoha sobbed while she buried her face into the puppy’s curly fur, “Where did you go?”
Time marched slowly for Nanoha as she cradled the shivering dog in her arms. The chair caused her back to ache even more, but she seemed to lack the energy to move. She sunk into the cushions of the couch and cried the time away for reasons that she could not fully understand. All she knew is that she wanted to find Fate as quickly as possible. Maybe her blond lover would let her keep this sweet dog that was sleeping peacefully on her lap.
“Umm, Nanoha?”
Nanoha turned to see a large woman in blue scrubs leaning over the chair.
“Yes, Jane?” she answered. Nanoha gasped in shock. She did not know this person, and yet she knew her name. However, the face seemed so familiar…
“Miss Nanoha, Fate came to see you,” the rotund woman said, and Nanoha jerked her head in the direction of where the woman was pointing.
The young woman had blond hair like Fate, but her eyes were a deep blue like the roaring ocean. Also, her face was different than the Fate she loved. The features were smoother, and her eyes lacked the passionate love that she craved.
“Who are you?” asked Nanoha as her heart broke in disappointment. “You’re not Fate.”
Nanoha saw tears well in the young woman’s eyes, and the blond looked at the ground as she wiped her cheek with the back of her hand like her Fate always did.
“I’m sorry,” stammered Nanoha as she tried to collect her thoughts while holding the small dog in arms. She stood to face the young impostor, and the pain in her back made her wince, “I didn’t-“
The young woman embraced her tightly and sobbed deeply onto her shoulder.
“Careful!” Nanoha said, “You’ll crush the puppy!”
“Grandmother,” the blond cried, “don’t you remember me?”
“Grandmother?” repeated Nanoha, which made the young woman cringe in sadness. Her mind struggled to make the connections. She knew that she had forgotten something, but she couldn’t remember what. “What is your name?”
“Fate…” the girl gasped in mid-sobbed, “Vivio-mama named me after her mama…remember?”
“Vivio?” Nanoha said as her mind searched fervently for the missing memories.
“Grandmother!” Fate pleaded with desperation in her eyes, “Please remember me!”
The large nurse in scrubs pulled Fate off of her frail grandmother with silver hair, “She does, sweetie. It’s still in there. You can see that she’s trying to remember. Give her a few minutes.”
The young blond nodded and hugged the nurse while Nanoha stared at them in confusion.
“She really seems to like your present that you brought over last week,” the nurse said kindly, "She carries it with her all the time."
Fate hugged Nanoha and patted the plush poodle doll that her grandmother held tenderly in her arms. “I’m glad you liked it, grandmother. I’ll bring another when I visit next week.”
“Fate…” Nanoha said to the blond while her old, widowed eyes begged for patience and forgiveness while she tried to connect her past experiences to her current situation.
“Thank you,” the blond said with a weak smile as she wiped her blue eyes. She kissed the ancient cheek and waved to the front desk as she left the nursing home.
“Aww, poor puppy, you do you belong to?” cooed Nanoha lovingly to a lost-looking dog, “Are you lost?”

Spoiler for My name is Vivio...:
Vivio leaned against the wall, blood leaking from where she had been stabbed, Excalibur in her shaking hand. Dimly in the distance the sounds of battle continuted; magical attacks, clashing steel, and the occasional bark of an assault rifle employed by Colonel Franz Jaeger's Order mages. She gazed hatefully at her opponent; the woman clad in black shook her head scornfully.
"Your overdeveloped sense of revenge is going to get you in trouble someday," she said, and lunged. Vivio raised her sword, the steel Belkan blade weakly parrying the Mid-Childan energy blade.
"Hello, my name is Vivio Scrya," murmured Vivio, slowly staggering up and walking forward. "You killed my father. Prepare to die." To punctuate her words, her sword came up, clashing against the woman's energy blade, as she advanced slowly, driving her foe back, her left arm pressed against the gash in her side. "Hello, my name is Vivio Scrya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."
Vivio's foe didn't take kindly to that, going on the offensive, but it was as if her attacks were useless, for the young woman parried each and every strike, countering her enemy; it was as if the wounded Vivio had gained her second wind, becoming more powerful, forcing her enemy back, her strokes becoming more energetic.
"Hello, my name is Vivio Scrya! You killed my father. Prepare to die!"
"Stop saying that," hissed the woman, slashing to the side; Vivio ducked under the slash and stabbed her in the shoulder, steel piecing the unarmored flesh, causing her foe to cry out in pain.
"Hello, my name is Vivio Scrya! You killed my father. Prepare to DIE!" roared Vivio, as she went on the offensive, forcing her enemy up against the wall, her blade at the throat of the beautiful blonde woman.
"No!"
"Offer me money," said Vivio, her voice trembling.
"Yes."
"Power as well, promise me anything I wish for."
"All that and more!"
"I WANT MY FATHER BACK YOU BITCH!" screamed Vivio, and drove her sword into the woman's body, the blade sticking out, their faces so close they could have kissed each other.
"I did this for Nanoha," gasped the woman, her eyes dimming.
"Goodbye, mother," hissed Vivio, and she yanked her blade out, as the woman collapsed to the floor lifelessly. Footsteps sounded behind her, as she slowly sank to her knees, sweat on her brow, as a man in black-and-gray camoflage and black body armor appeared behind her, taking in the scene, 5 other similarly-clad mages fanning out behind him, securing the room. Rifle in hand, he kicked away the device from the dead mage, and gazed sadly at her for a moment, before reaching down, feeling a pulse, and then closing her eyes, before turning to Vivio.
"There, there," he said, surprisingly gentle. "It's over now, Vivio." Tapping the earpice on the side of his cap, he ordered, "Overlook, This is Uruz Six Actual. I need a medic ASAP. Target has been neutralised, I have one friendly WIA."
"Semper Fi, Colonel."
Franz Jaeger looked back at the dead body and sighed sadly. "Goodbye, Fate." You may have killed Yuuno, but you were still once my friend...
"Uruz Six, Overlook. Bravo Six reports that they're almost done securing the facility. He's found some interesting reading materials... about a certain evangelist."
"Overlook, Uruz Six copies. Call for evac, we're getting out of here." Yet another mess I have to clean up. I should have never let Erick & Glen talk me into commanding the Order.

Halfway through I thought it was a mental institute, the fact that it was a nursing home caught me by surprise.

Chapter 6
Spoiler for Opening theme: Eternal Darkness:
Spoiler for Chapter 6: Hell in the West:
With my axe at hand, I ran to the ranch, the upper part of it was covered with flames, the main entrance was blocked with rocks and wood, there was no way to get in, I looked at the sides and spotted a hole just over the main entrance, I put the axe at my back and then I started to climb using the rocks and wood as supports for my hands and feet.
When I reached the hole and got inside the structure, the first thing I saw was an undead outlaw eating a corpse of a young man, I killed the demon with my axe and then I moved towards the halls, the place was totally destroyed, the demons had consumed all.
“Karil!!!” I began to scream, hoping to hear some answer.
“Karil!!!” I kept screaming, walking through the ruins of the old ranch.
I then heard a scratch, I turned and saw how a banshee went through one of the walls, the demon approached to me, I pulled out my revolver and shoot against her, the Banshee evaded the bullets and then she released one of her screams, I covered my ears and crouched, the Banshee stopped and then launched acid against me, I jumped to evade the liquid, I fell over a spade, probably used to cultivate vegetables.
The Banshee approached me again, I quickly grabbed the Spade and jumped against her, I smashed her head with the spade, she fell, I smashed her head again and again until the spade finally get impaled one her head.
After I killed the Banshee, I ran to the next room of the ranch, it looked like a dinging room, some undead spawned and attacked me, these ones were armed with spades and sticks, it wasn't hard to kill them, I only needed my revolver to take care of them.
“Help... HELP!” I heard, it was coming from the door at the end of the room, a pretty scared old man got inside the room and closed the door behind him.
“Hey! Are you okay?!” I asked while approaching him.
“Please, don't let him...!” Before he could finish the phrase, the door behind him was blew up, along with the lower part of his body, the upper part of the men fell dead and through the door came out an Undead Bandido, an obese Mexican undead armed with a shotgun.
“Oh shit!” I said to myself while opening fire against the demon, the bullets didn't do anything to him, the undead didn't even care about them, he shot against me with his shotgun, I jump to evade the projectile that left an enormous hole on the wall behind me.
“Damn it!” I though, I quickly grabbed my axe and jumped against the demon, impaling my weapon in his forehead, I though I had killed him, I was wrong.
With one hand, the undead bandido grabbed me and launched me against the table that I broke with the impact, he then pulled the axe out of his forehead and broke it with just one hand.
“Oh God” I realized that I needed more firepower in order to destroy that undead, I did the only thing I could do in that moment, I jumped trough the hole that the undead bandido has made and ran like Hell.
I kept running until I landed over a weak table on the floor, I fell trough the hole to some kind of grain store,
“Oww... my head...” I then heard a gun being loaded, I slowly raised my head and saw a man with a hat and mustache, probably 35 years old, aiming me with a shotgun, behind him, a woman, also with a shotgun in hand and 2 little kids, one boy and a girl, they all looked scared
“Say something... anything” The man commanded me.
“Ouch?” I replied, he then pulled the gun down and helped me to stand up.
“Who are you? I don't remember to have ever seen you before” He asked
“My name is Vivio... I came here looking for my friend, she was kidnapped by these creatures”
“Wait... you mean.... this is happening in other places also?”
“Yes... I... I think”
“Oh God...” The woman replied while hugging her children.
“Who are you?” I asked to the man.
“My name is Eddie... this is my wife Sandra and my 2 children, Samantha and Robert... we... we managed to hide here when this... when these things appeared... it was like a nightmare, first the stars disappeared from the sky and then these demons appeared... out of nowhere”
“Listen to me Eddie... when these monsters appeared... was a girl with them? Golden hair, blue eyes?” I asked him.
“Y-yes...” His wife Sandra answered, “One of the demons... was carrying a girl, she looked like the one you're asking for, she was unconscious... the... the demon who had her... it was different... he looked like the demon itself”
“The mysterious rider” I though, now I knew that the rider that I saw leaving Sun's Hill wasn't human, and that he was the one who kidnapped Karil and probably the one responsable for all of this, I needed to find Karil, but I couldn't leave these people here.
“Can I have your gun?” I asked the woman, she first looked at hes husband, Eddie nodded and then Sandra passed her shotgun to me, I loaded the weapon and the I said the the family.
“Stay close to me, I'll get you out of here”

...
What to say, eh? Maybe I'm just heartless and evil too ; alright, kidding, it was just my usual senses and my morning blues telling me not to be sad (which is good since I'm not very nice when I'm grumpy so early in the morning).
I think it could have ended a little better. I haven't the time for proper comments now (need to go for school activities soon), but I'll just say that while the content is fine, the ending was a little weird, as well as some of the details (like how Fate is, well.) I feel that you should have just hinted at them, shot at them in the dark a bit, but enough to torture people with their own thoughts. CLUE: Don't use the words themselves outright!
And quall, it's okay to break perspective when you're writing in this fashion, no need to keep to the objective-third style of phrasing when the subject matter is capable of toeing the line a bit between objective, subjective (and perhaps a bit of omniscient as well, if you could see where that was ).

*tips hat to Allquall again while weeping* Damn, that was so distressing, and so well done at the same time. To live in that constant anxiety, missing the most important person in your life, is just torture.
I think you took the audience through it at the right pace - at first, confusion just like Nanoha, then as you try to make the connections, you feeling the same dread and fear, and finally, there is an overwhelming sadness :'<

With my axe at hand, I ran to the ranch, the upper part of it was covered with flames, the main entrance was blocked with rocks and wood, there was no way to get in, I looked at the sides and spotted a hole just over the main entrance, I put the axe at my back and the I started to climb using the rocks and wood as supports for my hands and foots.
When I reached the hole and got inside the structure, the first thing I saw was an undead outlaw eating a corpse of a young men, I killed the demon with my axe and then I moved forward the halls, the place was totally destroyed, the demons had consumed all.
“Karil!!!” I began to scream, hoping to hear some answer.
“Karil!!!” I kept screaming, walking trough the ruins of the old ranch.
I then heard a scratch, I turned and saw how a banshee go trough one of the walls, the demon approached to me, I pulled out my revolver and shoot against her, the Banshee evaded the bullets and then she released one of her screams, I covered my ears and crouched, the Banshee stopped and then launched acid against me, I jumped to evade the liquid, I fell over a spade, probably used to cultivate vegetables.
The Banshee approached to me again, I quickly grabbed the Spade and jumped against her, I smashed her head with the spade, she fell, I smashed her head again and again until the spade finally get impaled one her head.
“Hey! Are you okay?!” I asked while approaching to him.
“Please, don't let him...!” Before he could finish the phrase, the door behind him was blew along with the lower part of his body, the upper part of the men fell dead and trough the door came out an Undead Bandido, an obese Mexican undead armed with a shotgun.
“Oh shit!” I said to my self while opening fire against the demon, the bullets didn't do anything to him, the undead doesn't even care about them, he shot against me with his shotgun, I jump to evade the projectile that leaved an enormous hole on the wall behind me.
“Damn it!” I though, I quickly grabbed my axe and jumped against the demon, impaling my weapon on his forehead, I though I had killed him, I was wrong.
I don't remember to ever saw you before” He asked
“My name is Vivio... I came here looking for my friend, she was kidnapped by these creatures”
“Wait... you mean.... this is happening in other places also?”
“Yes... I... I think”
“Oh God...” The woman replied while hugging her children.
“Who are you?” I asked to the man.
“My name is Eddie... this is my wife Sandra and my 2 sons, Samantha and Robert... we... we managed to hide here when this... when this things appeared... it was like a nightmare, first the stars disappeared on the sky and then this demons appeared... out of nowhere”
“Listen to me Eddie... when this monsters appeared... was a girl with them? Golden hair, blue eyes?” I asked to him.
“Y-yes...” His wife Sandra answered, “One of the demons... was carrying a girl, she looked like the one you're asking for, she was unconscious... the... the demon who had her... it was different... he looked like the demon itself”
“The mysterious rider” I though, now I knew that the rider that I saw leaving Sun's Hill wasn't human, and that he was the one who kidnapped Karil and probably the responsible for all of this, I needed to find Karil, but I couldn't leave this people here.
“Can I have your gun?” I asked to the woman, she first looked at his husband, Eddie nodded and then Sandra passed her shotgun to me, I loaded the weapon and the I said the the family.
“Stay close to me, I'll get you out of here”
Spoiler for Ending theme: Once Upon a December:
Spoiler for Undead Bandido:
I love it when you make Vivio smash that fatso's head , though it would be nice if you used a crowbar (Half Life anyone?). I have a suggestion: if you love 'em cowboys and western gunslinger, I was wondering if you can try a legendary outlaw named Jesse James.
KOTR 26
Soldiers dove into trenches and readied their weapons, waiting for the incoming enemy forces. At the furthest strike base near the entrance to Avalon Valley, Fate took up position among the anti-aircraft turrets. “I’m in position. The enemies are advancing at a fast pace and they have split into three companies. So far, I see no air force in sight,” she said. “Understood, I’ll wait for them to advance across the Deep Trench,” Nanoha replied. “They’ll come and we’ll be ready,” Zafira growled. After that, it was total silence. Nobody spoke and some had nervous looks on their faces. The marines were calmer though a number of them looked as pale as a white sheet.
“Is it me or do I hear the sound of thunder?” Vita asked Signum, who was at point C. Signum looked towards the Deep Trench and shook her head. “I’m not sure but I don’t like that sound,” she said deeply. Vita nodded and looked towards the hanger entrance. Viper Team had taken into the air and was scouting around the ground force’s airspace. “Hey Vivio, anything on radar?” Viper Leader asked. “Nothing. My radar coverage extends only until the Deep Trench. I can’t see anything beyond that,” she said. “Got it, we’ll keep this airspace until you decide to have us attack anyone crossing the Deep Trench,” the leader replied. At the frontline pillbox, Davion held his rifle (which was a World War 2 Springfield rifle) with a grip so hard that it made his hands hurt. He scanned the distance, hoping to spot the enemy and shoot them before they shoot him.
“They must be stuck at the Deep Trench. I doubt it will last long,” he said to himself. Just when he was about to light a cigar, a magic bolt zinged past his head and struck the pillbox’s entrance door. It exploded into a twisted piece of metal and the explosion woke Teana up. “What the hell?!” Teana yelled as she woke up so suddenly. Another magic bolt flew past her and flew out the entrance. “The enemies have found our hideout! We have to defend the place!” Davion yelled, his voice penetrating the loud booms emitted by the cannon turrets. “Why didn’t you wake me up earlier?! I could have been ready!” Teana replied. She took out Cross Mirage and began sniping distant enemies.
In the skies, enemy mages attacked the land forces but the anti-air guns cranked up and fired a storm of hot lead towards them. They were agile enough to dodge the shots but some of them got shot down. Those who survived the gun shots were attacked by Terran jet fighters prowling the skies. “Those guys will not invade our turf when we’re around,” one Viper pilot crowed. He chased after an enemy mage and opened up his machine gun, shooting him down. “That’s right, sod off you bastard!” he yelled. From a cliff edge not far from the second hanger entrance, Nanoha saw enemies approaching her position via a long bridge constructed by the enemy so they could cross the Deep Trench. “Don’t we have any artillery around here?” she asked a mage.
“No ma’am, our artilleries have been destroyed during the nuclear attack. The Terrans have only one and it is still undergoing repairs,” he replied. Nanoha sighed and held up Raging Heart. “I guess it’s just you and me, Raging Heart,” she said to her weapon. “Yes master, we’ll do our best,” the weapon replied back. Nanoha activated her wings and took to the skies. “Wait ma’am, where are you going?!” the mage asked. “Stay here and guard this area, I’m going to meet the enemy head on,” she said and slipped on her helmet. Nanoha raced towards the enemy position and fired a hail of shots non stop. Spent cartridges fell to the ground like rain as she reloaded as fast as she used up her cartridges (I’m just exaggerating). “That mage up there is gonna kill us all! Retreat!” one anarchist said. “Stand your ground or I’ll shoot you! Get the anti-air guns ready!” the company leader said while he hit the retreating soldier’s head.
The anarchists brought out portable flak cannons and fired upon Nanoha. However, even in power armor Nanoha was agile as ever. She dived and dodged so swiftly that none of the shells fired at her hit her. “Are you blind?! Can’t you even hit that mage with a simple flak cannon?!” the leader yelled. Suddenly, a Divine Buster shot knocked the leader off his feet and he nearly skidded into the trench. Nanoha landed in front of the enemies, her weapons pointing at the closest one to her, poised to strike. “Is that Nanoha Takamachi everyone has been talking about?” one anarchist asked his friend. “Impossible, they said she died after the desert battle,” his friends replied. “But I can tell it’s her. Her weapon is like that and no one has two pony tails like her. No doubt it is the Nanoha Takamachi that destroyed the desert force 5 months ago,” the first one said. Nanoha took off her helmet but not her hazard mask. “I see that I’ve made quite a name for myself since Operation Desert Thunder,” she said smilingly. “Run, she’ll kill us if we stand in her way!” the front anarchist cried out. The soldiers retreated and those driving in armored vehicles also abandoned their vehicles. Many types of equipment were left behind.
Nanoha went up to the leader and stepped on his chest. “I was starting to wonder if you didn’t recognize me,” she said to him with a mocking tone. The leader took out a pistol and tried to shoot her but Nanoha yanked the pistol from his grip and smashed it into pieces. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” she said. The leader pushed her away and quickly retreated. Nanoha dusted her skirt and smiled. “Well, that was simple, isn’t it, Raging Heart?” she asked. “Of course, master,” Raging Heart said. “I need recovery crews ASAP. I have a lot of fallen enemy equipments and tanks,” she said over the COMM. There was a pause before the mage replied. “O-Of course, ma’am. I’ll go get them right away,” he said. Before the COMM turned off, Nanoha heard him say something like “wow, she is unbelievable”.
With the first company gone, two more remained in the battle but reinforcements kept flowing in from the valley entrance. Fate was also under fire but she held her position and no one could reach her because she was high up on a cliff. The only thing that was a menace to her was enemy mages. There were not enough anti-air guns to keep her safe from air attacks but she did her best to fend them off. “I’m not about to lose to a bunch of baddies. I’m gonna make sure they are the ones that will be killed,” she growled. The mages landed on the cliff and clashed with her but Fate was much skilled with close combat and she beat them up quite easily. “Hope you like the taste of my Zamber Form!” she yelled to an enemy mage and slashed at him. He backed away until he fell off the cliff and landed at the bottom with a loud crunch. At the same time, Viper Squadron flew over head and attacked the enemy. “Let us help you out, you seem like you need it,” Viper-1 said coolly.
It was no use attacking like that because reinforcements kept coming into the valley. “Viper Squadron, I need you to attack the other cliff for me while I break this! We’ll create rubble to prevent enemies from getting in,” she said. “I was thinking of that as well, Testarossa,” the leader replied. He led his squadron towards the opposite cliff and dropped bombs on it. The cliff weakened and crumbled down, crushing some enemies along. “Photon Lancer! Fire!” Fate yelled. The energy spheres hit the cliff edges and made it collapse, thus closing the way into the valley. “We’re blocked out! Fire upon the rubble!” someone yelled out. “That won’t last long. We better hope that they are the last batch of reinforcements,” Viper-1 said. Fate didn’t like what he said so she leapt down the cliff and attacked the enemy alone. She didn’t seem to care for her life but she just attacked with full fury that even the enemies were astonished. “She’s crazy!” Viper-1 yelled.
At the city’s entrance, the cannons and pillboxes were doing a good job of keeping the enemy away from entering the city. Teana’s pillbox however was severely damaged and she had to abandon it. She and Davion were forced to fight in trenches. Rifle soldiers made up most of the ground forces and only a handful of mages and marines were there. The rest of them had been sent to protect the super weapons. “Vita, let’s go smash us some enemy melon heads,” Signum said to Vita. Vita smiled and got out from her trench. “Now you’re speaking my language, Signum. Come along with us, Zafira! I want to see them beg for mercy!” Vita said. She gave a yell and rushed towards the oncoming enemies. Zafira leapt off a cliff and landed next to a turret. He growled and rushed towards the frontlines. “I’ll be glad to oblige,” he said. The enemies were not sure what to do when they saw three fighters heading for them. “What is with that shorty girl, a pink-haired lady and an overgrown werewolf?” one of them asked. Before anyone of them could answer, Zafira leapt onto the nearest anarchist and attacked him. Vita came next and smashed up the enemy. Signum came later and she slashed at them. With the three attacking, no one could fire their weapons because they might accidentally hit them.
“Are those three nuts? How can they fight three against a thousand of enemies?” one dumbfounded soldier asked Teana. “They are Wolkenritters and they know how to fight. Just trust them, they can win this for us,” Teana said. “But we’re already winning and we don’t want to miss the fun,” someone else said. “Too bad, once they attack, they’ll be taking the fun from us,” Teana said with a ‘sweat’ expression.
The battle went smoothly and soon, the second company was eliminated. The last company took some time to take out but with the help of the laser platform, the third company got destroyed. The battle lasted for 3 hours total and the coalition forces won the battle. As for those blocked by the rubble, they retreated back to their base after a massive beating from Fate. On the same day, Nanoha was given the Bronze Star medal for heroic or meritorious achievement or service. Fate was awarded the Medal of Honor for being conspicuous by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his/her life above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in an action against an enemy. She was praised for her actions but criticized for being foolhardy (reckless). Vita, Signum and Zafira were awarded Silver Stars for gallantry in action against an enemy. Reckless as they were, they certainly did a good job of fending off the enemy. Teana was given a promotion for volunteering to be in the most dangerous defensive position. She was also awarded with the Navy Expert Pistol Shot Medal for excellent shots with her weapon which was considered a pistol. For your info, Teana joined the Navy after the Nuclear Armageddon so she was qualified for the medal.
“Well, all these pretty little decorations really gave me a good feeling. I always wondered why we were never awarded medals for our services when Mid-Childa was still intact,” Vita said. “Probably because everyone was too busy with cutting costs and they decided to make medals obsolete,” Nanoha joked. As they (minus Zafira) celebrated their victory, Brigadier General Yukihara came into the mess hall to congratulate them. “I must say you all make a good team. Great job out there. With this victory, our troops will have a morale boost and I’m also sure we can rake up more victories in the future,” she said with a warm smile she seldom showed. “So we’re just tools for morale boosting eh. If that is so, we must be doing a good job,” Signum said with a smile. “Ahem…of course, Signum. You’re not tools, you’re more like…examples. We are glad that you guys have not rusted,” she said.
“Still it makes us look like tools,” Fate joked. “C’mon Yukihara, come join us in some merry making,” Nanoha said. “No thanks Nanoha, I’m a busy woman. Once you are done partying, I want to see all of you in my office. I have something I want to tell you,” she said. “What is it about?” Teana asked. Yukihara adjusted her glasses and crossed her arms. “We may have found the possible locations of the missing high rankers that evacuated prior to the Nuclear Armageddon,” she said. “How can this be?” Signum asked in surprise. “I received a distress signal from someone called BoD-1. BoD stands for Book of Darkness and I know who carries that. Hayate,” Yukihara said.

Fate sighed out in slight annoyance as she waited in line at the airport. Currently her and Tia were waiting to board another ship to take back to mid-childa after one of their longer missions. The constant delays to get to a planet not a few hours away had taken their toll on the blond who just wanted to get home to her family. Her suitcase was swapped from one hand to another, refusing to leave it on the floor after the recent events of luggage stealing. She wanted to be home, not filling out paperwork after catching some crook.
Tia blinked when a soft buzzing sound came to her ears. At first she looked up and around herself to see if there was a speaker that could be making the sound but soon realized that it was coming from the person next to her. Knowing that Fate held a device and not a phone, she curiously looked down lower to pinpoint the sound. To her horror, she found the noise to be coming from Fate's luggage. Cheeks burning scarlet, she tried to get closer to her higher ranked friend and coughed slightly to get her attention. "Um... Fate-san?"
"Yes, Tia?" The words were slightly harsh, her annoyance clear even on her normally gentle face.
"Um... you see..." Tia tried to find the words, not helped by the fact that people around them were starting to look at Fate and snicker. "I think... something is on... in your bag...?" The words were spoken as quietly as she could, but the roar of laughter around them came at one.
Fate went very still for several seconds before qucikly opening her suitcase. "It's my eletric toothbrush!" she stated loudly, even holding it up to show people it was on. The laughs got louder and she cut it off quickly, shoving it back in and looking at the ground, blushing so hard she could feel even the tips of her ears burning."I just want to get hoooome..."
A sad fic is a sad fic . Excellent writing there, Allquall. It can be a very hard thing to watch someone suffer from such a debilitating ailment. I can only imagine what is could be like to suffer from such a thing. But to be there watching someone go through it, whether from disease or cancer in the brain can be a very hard thing knowing you can do nothing other than be there for them and watch...

Poor Fate! I wonder if Tia ever brought up that experience again. Oh Lord, if she ever told Subaru... Sabaru would tell Nanoha...and Nanoha would broadcast it.
