Was she ever in the plot? I always thought Nunally, Suzaku, Lelouch, C.C. are the main four. Kallen and everyone else, background supporting characters. Only Kallen is more like-able than the average background character.

More like a character who desparately wants to squeeze herself into the plot and gets shoved out by several other characters (mainly the titual kuzu aka Lelouch) over and over....

I say the main 4 are those that are in the cover for the first OST. I always thought it that way.

Ugh, with the way everything's going, Requiem just makes me think it's a codename for rainbows and ponies reset, capable of bringing back the dead.

Episode 18 was freaking fantastic, but they had to take that away. I can understand Cornelia; her 'death' was so anticlimactic. But jeez... Guilford?!?

I would still love to see a really amazing, hectic fight between Suzaku and Kallen ala Kira vs. Athrun in SEED mode. At this point, I'm just projecting my rage directed towards the writers

Well, some times ago some people were saying that because kallen doesn't appear at the beginning of the OP2 when we can see:

C.C., then nunnaly, then schneizel, then suzaku, then c.c. again.

Like they were the main characters of the final battle (+ lelouch)

But kallen is a main character too in the whole series.

True but as of now she only seems to be another soldier with no ambition to change the world. At least these four were relevant to the story line since their actions affect the world. If not the Kalulu angle, which basically puts her at least in the same category as Shirley, would she be just another grunt or soldier that wins a lot? A mix between Cornelia and Shirley? But there is still one more episode to go for her to prove her worth so....

It depends on you definition of "essential" and how you look at what she is doing.

Some might say that she is essential to the plot as the final enemy of lelouch.

But who is right? Don't ask me I don't know.

Well if this is it, we aren't better than Kallen. We would not have been able to see through Taniguchi's lies.
But seriously, if nothing happen in the last episode, this show will be totally crap to me. And Sadly, Guilford's return is already convincing me that something is wrong about Code Geass....
