I've said it before; but Kyon's mom does have at least one good instance of interaction with the SOS-dan. In Endless 8, she serves snacks to them during their homework session. Another minor scene, but of note; was in the prologue of Book 9, when she teased Kyon about going to the same university as Sasaki.

The question is, if we substitute Kyonko's dad there; do we want to trot out the old trope of the Overprotective Dad.
Imagine if your lolicious daughter brought home 3 guys with her one day; you'd want to at least figure out out their intentions toward your daughter; while you clean your gun/knife/baseball bat.
Or think about how you feel about that weird guy who he walks her home at night; the one that smiles a little too often.
There's also that girl who's a little too friendly with your daughter...
ATM, my mental image of Kyonko's dad is Furukawa Akio.

I kinda like that idea. Makes life harder for poor Kyonko and more interesting for us.

They're pretty normal, as it turns out. Which probably isn't too surprising.

I found this fanfiction story (and its sequel) whose idea it was that Kyon's parents weren't that ordinary in their youth... (and somewhat familiar!)

I actually found myself laughing when I was reading those two stories.

A little more, and they could have been the ghostbusters.
Though its a bit scary with the Haruhi-Kyon's mother bonding. That WOULD be interesting.

Of course, what makes Haruhi even scarier than Kyon's mother is that Haruhi can make her imaginings real--unless you believe in Kyon-ism, that is, in which it's Kyon's paternal line that would carry the Godhood and the power.
