What she's experiencing is similar to an anxiety attack, or a psychosomatic reaction. It's akin to what we in the medical community call a Somatoform Disorder.

Episode 2
Oh poor Reina...the moment she saw that new teacher coming, her eyes went dead-fish: Spoiler:
I wonder if she'll ask Taki sensei about her. Asuka and Reina also looked amazing in their swimsuits! Maybe Asuka should considering wearing contacts in the future. Interesting storytelling about Nozomi as well this week.

Nice episode 2 I must say, really like it especially for one thing (and I'm impressed about it) Kyoani toned down the yuribait with the last escene, never expected that considering Kyoani is very well known to increase the impact of those kind of scenes to pander the fans.
Spoiler for Minor comparison between the books and episode 2:
As for the episode itself, Reina and Asuka are some of the most gorgeous girls out there, I prefer Asuka's looks over Reina's but both of them are miracles of the universe. On a side note, I'm really tired of Kyoani's desings... everyone has the exact same freaking faces just with colour changes and different hairstyles, Reina and Asuka looks like clones. Taki sensei... YOU REALLY DID IT LMAO! poor Reina, she was in shock all the time because of that but I can't deny that sensei is beautiful and talented. Spoiler for Fish eyes:
What's more important is how Nozomi's drama is still there, seems like that's going to take some time to get fixed especially because Kumiko still have some doubts about what to do but judging by the last part of episode 2 she's going to face Asuka and see what happens. On a previous post I said that Nozomi needs to learn a lesson for what she did and thanks to this episode I noticed she really learned it in a hard way but I'm not against her anymore, I hope Asuka changes her mind and give Nozomi a second chance. |

Now that I'm finally done with the new shows this cour, I didn't expect to be laughing out loud in Hibike out of everything with Reina doing her best impression of Hachiman. After all her 'hard work' of getting up early just to talk to Sensei, and it all comes tumbling down when the walking bombshell of a teacher walks in.
It's interesting though, that the show prefaces the scene with Sensei talking that he has neither a wife nor kids at this point. If he has been hanging around the girl for that long, and he has interest in her, why haven't they hooked up already? So don't worry Reina, I'm sure you don't have to give up just yet... As for the other side of romance, stupid Shuichi. Sure I expected it (it's about time in the story for his relationship with Kumiko to dip after all), but he sure does have a habit of messing up with what he says. At the very least Reina is aware of his relationship with Kumiko, even if she doesn't approve of him just yet. XD

dead fish reina
i'm starting to really root for nozomi and to dislike oboe girl tho :/ when reina and kumiko talked in bed, for a second i thought reina was asking to hold hands while sleeping but that would be too nsfw to show on tv i guess. |

Now that's the Kumiko that I learned to love in the 1st season! Her talk with Nozomi was the highlight of the episode for me.
If anyone, from what we saw in episode 2, Mizore is the one who is more likely to have a negative affect on the band with that gloomy, dismal attitude of hers, not Nozomi, who wants to do whatever she can to make the band successful. Besides being a detriment, as far as we know, Nozomi, like Kousaka is on the trumpet, could be the best flute player in the school and an asset to the band. |

Updated my episode 1 post to include the whole episode.
Hmm, I like the new character! She sounds familiar. It's funny how Reina got rekt too. Although my enjoyment of the episode was interfered with crappy pool fanservice; sans glassless Asuka. And I am watching Keijo so it's not like I am opposed to fanservice. Mizore is also turning out to be pretty interesting. I mean not sure what's sadder? * The pool "fanservice" parts. Breasts, breasts, breasts. Right, cuz that's so novel in anime. And yea let's keep implying females are incomplete without humongous breasts because that's so novel too. If that's all you can think of when it comes to that, stop and slap yourself in the face for me. Also note that * The fanservice getting in the way of people being soulful about their pasts. I mean really now, she's pouring her heart out and you zoom in on her breasts squeezing? Okay. * More not so subtle adolescence. And... Spoiler for Clannad:

Reina with dead fish eyes.
Now that we know a little more of what happened, I actually want Nozomi to be given a second chance. Granted, I can see where Asuka is coming from if she continues refusing her, but it would still be nice to see her give Nozomi a chance. Kumiko's talk with Asuka should hopefully change her mind.

Episode 2 was pretty good.
I liked the light fanservice myself, though I guess having an important female character be very self-conscious over small breasts is a rather old tired joke... Still, I thought the swimwear was nice and attractive. Some of it was nicely elegant. For me, it helped that most of the girls were very natural in their swimwear and didn't act excessively self-conscious. And even with Reina, it was cute to see a little of her shyer side. In general, I like how Episode 2 explored Reina's more emotionally vulnerable side. Asuka continues to be perplexing. I'm not sure if she's just very simple/straightforward in hating any possible source of drama, or if there's something more to her otherwise perplexing actions and words. To be fair to Asuka, she pretty much was right in what she said to Nozomi in that flashback bit. If Nozomi had just stuck it out, her current situation might be better. That being said, Nozomi probably should get a 2nd chance. And Mizore maybe should seek out psychiatric counseling. It's interesting how Kumiko can quickly take to other people, and become very invested in situations that only slightly relate to her own.
