God damnit and Teresa and Clare both already! Let me see 'em make an Irene Arc, and then let's talk!
For choice of director let's hope then don't choose that idiot who ruined Bloodrayne and a huge collection of games...what was his name now?
...
Damn...

I think that characters like Miria or Teresa being older is just fine. Claymores can probably lose their baby fat fine. They probably just don't degenerate, and I'd still consider people in their 30s to be in their prime. Fact is, the maturity and sense of self needed for characters like Teresa or Miria just isn't possible with 20 something actors.

The voice acting from the anime really made me think that Irene and Teresa were some of the oldest (or at least the most mature) Claymores. Miria was up there too. Even though Raphaela is far older, she didn't come across that way in the anime.

1. How you gonna convince studio executives to fork out money for this film?
2. What is the length? 1h 30 mins? 2 hours?
3. Choice of director is more important, who can pull this off? Spielberg? Mann?
4. What story you going to focus on?
5. A self made story or based on manga?
6. More CG or less?
7. Music score? Howard? William?
8. Film location? Eastern European? England?

Rather than masturbating on choice of actress, what about these questions?
My semi-serious answers :

1) I'd simply tell the producers "it doesn't matter if the movie sucks or not, people will still crave to see it as long as there are famous actors and you know that, am I right Mr. Ocean's 5*10^125 producer ?"
2) Whatever it takes to tell the whole story from chapter 1 to 76, I don't care if it's a 6, 12 or 24 hours mastodon...
3) Anyone who can read the manga and operate a camera...
4)& 5) Everything! If it's in the manga, it's in the movie
6) Less to none. Actors get paid like what, 20 million bucks a movie? If I'm in charge, I'll make them earn every single penny of it...
7) Maybe anime soundtrack can be recycled
8) Probably Eastern europe would be good for forests and northern campaign too

Uwe Boll.

Don't worry...I don't think he's made a habit of ruining animes yet

Give him time though.

Let's say if they approved the live action claymore movie, what do you think the movie budget going to be? It's probably going to be in the 20-30 mil dollar range.

It would have to be a trilogy i think. Maybe from the very beginning, and ending with the slashers. Ophelia---Joined by Souls as part two.

Yes. A trilogy would be nice, although it all depends on how good the movie 'claymore' does. If it manages to go over the 50 mil mark, then yeah, a sequel is a must.

I think that medieval fantasy/horror fans, aren't really all that many in number, and a watered down version of Claymore compessed into a movie.... .... .... .... might still work

I hope that a live action is never done on anything that was originally designer/graphical art. I have read books and such where I picture how each character looks, or if it is an anime, I prefer remembering the characters in their graphical origination. Last time I saw something live action, it completely ruined my perception of it, as I think real life human characters can never live up to animation qualities. I feel that it's better if we remember characters in their artistic form, as they are much more beautiful.

True.... But you seem to underestimate the miracles of good directing.... If it's done right, then it could be truly awesome.... But it's never done right!

The only way I would imagine they would put together a live action adaptation would be if they did it as a TV series or a made for TV movie. That or a few arcs in a long movie. I'd hope for the story up until right after Teresa's arc. They could fit that in 2 1/2 - 3 hours. The biggest problem would be if they didn't directly use the layout from the comic book. I am hoping for something like a Frank Miller adaptation where it is done with the pages as their story board (like 300).

A made for TV movie would probably be aweful but some of them are decent. The Children of Dune show done by the sci fi channel was decent. They had to change some things in the story to make it fit their budget though. Mostly things to minimize their need for special effects. The Awakened beings would require the most special effects. Besides that there really isn't much that would need a ton of work (except the awesome stunts they would need for some of the characters). Although for the first few arcs the only Awakened beings you see are Priscilla and the 6 armed guy which really could be done without much CG. Then there are all the hacked limbs and bodies...

So here is a question, how would you have the awakened beings done? Computer graphics, animatronics, claymation, elaborate costumes...

If it wasn't CG, it would suck, period.

No... if they had like jodie foster, or nicole kidman, or renee zellwegger, or any other blonde to play even one of these girls roles... that image would be burned in my head and I do not want to remember claymore girls anything other than their CG form. It's best to leave it with anime.

Yeah, but actresses as Kristanna Loken or Amy Smart are a different matter i'd say.
