It's nice to see story progression, but I didn't find the way it was told very compelling nor what some of those conclusions are.

Spoiler:

I remember those two scans, but I've never seen anything besides those two. If there's more, I wonder why only those were posted on the wiki, which say it's from "Cool Edition 3", a name that doesn't pull up anything useful on Google.

I didn't find anything either... which makes me a sad panda, as that pairing isn't half bad...

I still think it inferior to Kyon/Haruhi or Koizumi/Tsuruya, but they do fit well together...

Southpark reference? Seriously I'm not sure how diluted the saying has been nowadays.

Yes that pairing seems quite natural. But it might be a life that Kyon could never appreciate.

He would be endding in a borring ( or even a mediocre) life and his cinicism would be his only distintive feature.

What's interesting about Sakai is that initially she seems to be the Betty in a Veronica and Betty kind of way. And then suddenly a few whammies later, she's the Veronica.

But I agree that the whole arc is trash. I'm sure the author recognizes that too and that's the primary reason for the delay. Ohs well, I hope he would just retcon the whole thing.

I don't think than the whole arc is trash come member of the Anti-SOS brigade might be interesting, but the idea of a ''anti-SOS brigade against Sos Brigade'' seem too clichée to me.

I have the feeling that the two issues might be related. Kyoani might feel the need for authorial input, and without him they might be reluctant to move forward. In which case it's simply a bad news for S2, as it would be less of a matter of whenever Kyoani feels like it, but more of a matter of when the author decides to resurface.

I think there are cliche that can be well done. But Sakai and co are strangely boring, as an enemy team they are frivolous and bring surprisingly few new things to the table. It would be as if Team Rocket were suddenly introduced in the middle of the show, rather than at the beginning. The viewers might simply find them a waste of time. I think the author knows about this problem and understands his responsibility in volume 10 to provide such an engaging story that volume 9 (and 7, which is part of the same arc and which I thought was deathly boring too) will all be forgiven. But maybe the pressure got to him.

Totally biased and out of my ass speculation of course, but I think fair in light of what we know.

No one even likes Escape from the School.

What the hell, indeed.

It was kinda expected in a way though, I just hope that this forces him to comment one way or the other on what he plans to do with Haruhi. I can't imagine trying to enjoy another series he attempts to create given how fickle he's proven to be.

Um, actually, that series has been around longer than Haruhi.

Gakkou wo Deyou! or Escape from the School! actually formed the basis for the plot of the Haruhi series, and later stories in the series seem to be made of rejected plot ideas for Haruhi.

Yeah, I was thrown off by "New", but regardless it seems clear he doesn't feel like doing Haruhi right now the same way he got board of this series and dropped it for 4 year. I certainly hope it doesn't take that long for him to figure out the direction he wants to take Haruhi in.

I'm still pretty sure Vol. 10 is already done... it was due for release a mere two months after Vol. 9, so...

If it was already done, why hasn't it been released?

Two possible reasons:

a) Tanigawa hated the ending he wrote and decided to rewrite it;

or b) Kadokawa is delaying it until the release of S2 to generate sales.
