That's basically what it is. Kuro Goku, which is basically Dark Goku. People are just translating it literally rather than contextually.

I do wonder if Black Goku will be voiced by Masako Nozawa, though. While I like her voice acting as normal Goku, as a villain it will sound pretty ridiculous.

The only reason Trunks has purple hair is because Bulma originally had purple hair before it was popularized as being green/teal instead. So I suppose it could be "correcting" that idea, but there's not much point in doing so, especially with little Trunks having his hair color.

But I'm not all that concerned about hair color, and this could be a different Future Trunks. The fact that he has Mai as a companion poses plenty of questions, since the android timeline that we first saw Future Trunks from and the 'normal' timeline are supposed to be unrelated: changes made to one don't affect the other. But Mai being around his age implies that that is a result of Mai getting wished back to childhood (like in the current timeline) and then growing up again alongside him.

Wrong. His name is ゴクウブラック. So literally "Goku Black". Though spelled entirely in katakana despite Goku's name always having been spelled in kanji.

Same reason why some people insist that this show's name is "Dragon Ball Chou"? aka people just back-translating English terms to Japanese without checking to confirm if 1: those back-translated Japanese terms match the original Japanese, or 2: if those terms were even Japanese to begin with.
