I ntoiced something while watching the trailer again.

I'm seeing a noticable size difference of Fate/Arf between scenes. Only during the flashback scenes - so I wonder if those flashbacks are going to span over a year or two, rather than focus on a single timeframe.

The scene where Fate/Arf/Linith are looking at bardiche and the scene where Fate and Arf are running together - Both Fate (especially Fate) and Arf look older in the running scene, compared to the scene with bardiche.

Not that it's surprising, since the back story with Fate/Linith/Arf spans over a few years - Even more so if you include Alicia/Precia.

The backstory will probably skip around a lot, since they can only focus on so much of Fate's past without sacrificing the main story of her bond with Nanoha. So it wouldn't surprise me if a few timeskips occur within the backstory.

I won't be surprised if Arf growth is influenced by these two factors, either or both:

1) She grows "normally", at a rate that's usual for her species, or at least at a rate that is closer to that of a human child thought still much faster. Wolves mature much faster than humans (grey wolf "cubs" are allowed on hunts after around 3-4 months, and they hit sexual maturity, or for Arf's case, adulthood/form after 2~3 years), and I should think this would apply for Arf as well.

2) Her growth is directly proportional to Fate's growth as a magus. The faster Fate grows in magical strength, the faster Arf grows in size.

It mentions in the SS02 that because she is a wolf cub, she grows very fast. Well, actually Arf said so herself. She was fully grown to her first season size before Linith even left. (as shown in the movie manga)
Though ironically, it looked like Fate was growing faster than Arf in between scenes.

Or maybe they stop growing once they reach a certain age, like a few months or a year. If Arf is based off a dog, it wouldn't have taken long for her to reach her mature size and weight.

But then again, as shown in StrikerS, she is fully capable of reverting back to her loli form.

So maybe it's a mix of Fate's magic input and Arf's growth as a wolf.

Doesn't Arf use her loli form to relieve Fate's burden of supporting her with magic, though? I don't think that has anything to do with her growth rate.

Well if Arf can shrink in size by depleting less of Fate's mana source, then it wouldn't be strange if Fate's mana source is capable of accelerating her growth as well.

Just think of the loli form is most likely just an energy saving form like how rein zwei is usually 30cm. Arf probably stopped growing at her peak, and then stays in loli mode most of the time to save energy.
