Well, promotional pictures has nothing to do with the story. Friends and foes line up, smiling, in front of the camera. If we come to the conclusion that Suzaku and Kallen belong together after watching these pictures, we might as well be happy (or not) about the fact that Suzaku and Lelouch will be really good friends again in season 2. All these pictures are, simply, a way to display the four main characters of the show. They're not gonna have Suzaku holding a gun to Lelouch's head and Kallen threatening Suzaku with a knife in the promo-art. C.C. and Lelouch are often paired up in the pictures due to natural circumstances. The "other half" of the picture is dedicated to the remaining two main characters - Suzaku and Kallen. All these pictures are fictional. Okay, I know that it's ALL fiction, but this is "fiction within the fiction".

Sure, I'm not going to say "this will happen, that won't" or anything, since you never know. What I DO know though is that Sunrise would upset a big majority of their fans if they let those two characters end up together, much due to the fact that a majority of the fans simply hate Suzaku. I'd say that if there were a list containing the names of the most hated characters of 2007, Suzaku would definitely give School Days' "Makoto" a run for his money.

Exactly how many japanese actually hate Suzaku (Or are neutral on that matter) on the same extremists level as the people on this board and elsewhere? And I mean actual japanese people who live in japan because that's what counts. Not people in other parts of the world.

Though while I admit recent pictures are nice it still seems awkward for Suzaku and Kallen...

Yeah, okay, with "majority" I was referring to my own interpretation of the situation, I haven't seen any statistics ofc. ^^

That assumption is based on the fact that out of all the people I've discussed Geass with (not counting this forum), everyone has hated Suzaku to the extreme. The thing is that we're talking about 30-40 people here, so it's not a very thoroughly made investigation, hehe. I thought it was safe to assume that it was in fact indicating a pattern though. But like you say, I have no idea whatsoever whether he is as hated in Japan as he is here. If I had to bet money on it, I'd say that he's not. I might be totally wrong, but it seems to me that a characters appearance is about as important as its actions over there. I would like to be proven wrong though.
