Is the second season confirmed or are they just planning to have one? (For the franchise's own good I hope there won't be a second season, only some OVAs at most.) And in any case there are a million ways they can give him back his powers temporarily or permanently. They're writing the world and the story, they can do pretty much whatever they want. And if there's no second season, "only" OVAs, well, those can take place any time during the series.

I seriously wonder why people are even considering the possibility that Kotetsu is dead. I appreciated the drama and the emotional scene, and as a fan of Morita Masakazu I really appreciated his performance as Bunny, but seriously, if Kotetsu is really dead-- and he stays dead-- I'm going to eat my favorite hat.

Also, I wonder if the animation team was crying as well while animating the scene - I'm usually not one to dwell on off-model animation unless it's truly horrible, but here it was very distracting.

There is just one thing that makes me think it possible (not probable, but well within the realm of possibility).

Kotetsu's arc is pretty much at an end. He's done everything he was set down as needing to do:

1: Earned Barnaby's respect
2: Realize his family is more important then hero work
3: Earned Kaede's respect
4: Mentor Barnaby past his issues
5: Save everyone at the end before retiring
6: Inspire all the other Heroes to be true heroes
7: Scrub the Heroes system of it's corruption and make it what it ought to be

What is left for Kotetsu to do? There has been zero hints for an way of him getting out of the fact his powers are declining. What are they going to do with him?

Sure, they could do lots of things. They could have him be the retired hero mentor figure. But truthfully he's completed his character arc.

If there was ever a moment in the show to have him die- this would be it. A handing of the torch to the next generation. An Obi-wan moment.

Actually... now that I think about it this could be a good way of looking at the story it's not a traditional hero story, it's the story of an Obi-wan character mentoring the hero.

This is actually pretty classic Buddy Cop show stuff. Usually it doesn't end in death. Men In Black had it end with retirement. Lethal Weapon hinted at a death scene, and then subverted it. But some of them do kill off the older cop at the end of the movie, just before the final confrontation with the mastermind, usually after defeating the Dragon.

So I expect a subversion, and that Kotetsu will survive. But if they are going to kill him off, this is the moment to do so.

The final episodes are Barnaby taking up Kotetsu's mantle, defeating Maverick, and then the epilogue (setting up season 2).

Kotetsu dying could work. So I think it is possible, if improbable.

I think Yuri might be on to Maverick, hopefully he shows up. Wonder if the robot got him bad. Nice job by Blue Rose to make everyone believe in them. Loled hard when the double good luck mode didn't even put a scratch on it. Nice job by Kotetsu to hold it why Bunny shot it. Kaede saved the day! She's already on the path to becoming a great hero. Felt so bad when she got into the room with that smile. Even Saito and Ben know. Would like to see him faking it the whole time and take the last shot at Maverick.

But reading all the post and remembering the Otakon interview with T&B director, I can actually imagine that the original script was really going to to kill Kotetsu. In fact, when they first asked for the "second season", they wanted to make it in the 10month time skip interval.

Now, I can actually think 2 examples (Lockon and Mu) of Sunrise deciding to revive a character "because he is soo cool". Yet I will call this series one of the best I have seen if they actually kill Kotetsu, but I will also be happy if he wakes up a few months later with a career ending injury.

honestly if they were gonna off him, i feel like it was pointless to have his powers increase in strength while decreasing in time. Might as well just have them decline completely and go with it. Therefore, id say his "revival" will probably come as a final burst of his powers, after which they'll probably vanish completely.

Think I'm fine with either way the story decides to go as far as Kotetsu surviving. Of course, I'd rather see him survive and get a second season but if this is all we're getting I might actually rather see him die.

Anybody else really disappointed in the "internal conflict" with the other heroes while we waited on Tiger and Bunny to get their powers back? I never really believed any of them would press the button and if they had I'd have just been so disappointed I'd have washed my hands of the series immediately.

I'd have rather seen some inner monologue on Maverick's part as to what he was thinking. I mean he's provided resources to build a killer android that can overpower the most powerful Nexts in the city to someone who vehemently hates all Nexts. I have to assume that Maverick is hiding that he himself is a Next and has some sort of contingency plan in place to deal with things. His own power wouldn't be able to do squat against that robot should Rotwang turn on him.

I think the increase in strength was only during the one episode.

I was surprised and pleased just how badass Kaeda was in this episdoe and thought it was an unexpected twist that she was the one to save the heroes in the end.

There is still one plot point concerning Tiger & Bunny that still has not been resolved yet. That is Ouroboros. They are a large crime organization with a lot of Next members, and they are still at large.

Most likely, the members of Heroes will have to face off with the members of Ouroboros some day, kind of like Justice League versus Injustice League (or Anti-Justice League).

With only one episode to go, I doubt they will resolve that issue. Also, Lunatic is just hanging about. There has to be more to his story as well.
