yeah, I was confused too about priestess crying like that after using purify and just thought it was because she used a miracle to kill a goblin.

The thing with Priestess made no sense to me either so thanks. This season seems like a pretty terrible adaptation. Doesn't help that the animation is so inconsistent either.

I feel like the Goddess should be more chill about something like that. Otherwise she's pretty naive. How does that Goddess think all the healing spells get used normally? To heal people so they can go out and kill monsters. Apparently the Goddess can stomach miracles being used indirectly to kill things. Plus the shaman wasn't even dead there. How is this worse than her crushing an enemy with defensive barriers or driving goblins to jump to their doom from that holy light?

If that Goddess wants to complain she might want to lay down some ground rules here on what's acceptable and not .

I was expecting after the animation boost of last episode and the extra focus on HEA, we might get a near-death experience for her, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. I expected the elixir to come into play for her, but GS ended up using it. I thought he couldnt' get stabbed with the chain mail, as evidenced in ep1, but somehow, the goblin stabbed him in the same spot(as s1e1), but it penetrated like there wasn't anything there.

The Hero stuff went right over my head. Terrible explanation. I'd rather them just omit that completely(unless it comes into play later on; no, don't tell me). Director dropped the ball here; maybe s/he expected the audience to have already read the source material. Regardless, the "monsters" they face and the Hero's party's personality feels so generic and out of place, I just have no interest in seeing it. Music was good though at least.

Ditto. I just assumed Priestess using Purify to kill(or attempted to kill) was against her faith, but had no idea about the Goddess aspect. I mean, she's used a brand new spell she acquired, Protection, to assist killing goblins in ep2 and crush the Goblin Lord in ep12, so I didn't quite understand the difference. Esp ep 2; she even questions why she was given it if it could be used in such a way, just like after the events of this episode.

Not to mention the missing explanation for the roof waterfall was a big screwup on the writers' part. A plan as intricate as that should have been explained beforehand, but it just happened while completely omitting when they discussed it. Not the best adaptation here.

Used to be a like button a long time ago, but I can't remember the reason it was removed. Probably to prevent ego posting and some subtle form of forum bullying, though can't imagine that with the regulars here now *shrug*.

Maybe the priest prays to Earth Mother Goddess Marfa (from Record of Lodoss War). The goddess acts as GameMaster and grants the healer some root access. The priest decides to write the physics rule, such as enemies' blood is impure, so she turns goblin's blood to water. It is similar to Goddess Aqua's purifying power(from Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!).

The elf archer's big sister doesn't miss her that much, because the archer is out for years. To the big sister, it is as going out for days.

I could tell the Priestess purified the shaman's blood into water, but I thought it was an accident - that she was just trying to get rid of the poisonous cloud.

Considering she still aknowledged Priestess by end of episode, Godess of Earth is quite chill already. I don't think this can be even consdered slap on the wrist. Plus I don't think she has any obligations grant miracless to people in first place.

She looked straight at him and said "impure" before casting her spell, so she was definitely aiming to kill him.

I guess this was a fun episode, but my god they're rushing through things so fast there's no time to actually process or appreciate what's happening.

The anime likes to do time skip a lot. The six heroes' had dungeon quest before they became famous. Now, their achievement became widely know by guilds. Then, the story returns to Goblin Slayer's party. The specialists of fighting goblins are assigned to fight non-goblin, such as sea serpent.

I feel for the Archbishop but...she's got no chance . There are people much closer to Goblin Slayer who have far more opportunities. Occasionally showing up and acting like some teenager working through her first crush isn't going to beat out the competition . Though honestly I'm not sure about any of the competition with where his mental state is and the way he is living.

Not that I don't get that she's incredibly traumatized and would obviously latch onto someone focused entirely on the massacre of the creatures that she'd want wiped off of the planet! Just that...should probably be realistic on the low romantic odds she has.

Roaming goblins on wolves...oh joy . Guess it was too much to hope for that they could snag the entire group in one fight.

The pacing is pretty darn expedient. But at least the characters are still good and likeable through it all.

Okay, I'm back after a slight delay. Here's review and here's stuff cut:

This episode starts Volume 8, going all the way to the end of Chapter 3:

1. Among the monsters with the Greater Demons were Night Stalkers, which were a half-step from becoming self-aware Vampires.
2. The Demons expected them to try and Silence them but were confident that their magic would still get through. They underestimated Female Bishop and Myrmidon Monk (called Bugman Monk back then), leaving them open for the Half-Elf Scout to cut their tendons and drop them down.
3. Female Warrior killed one with a spear to the heart and Samurai Captain cut the arms off the other, which caused it to try to call for reinforcements. To deal with all of them Female Wizard, High Priestess, and Samurai Capitan combined their spells.
4. The reason that High Elf Archer bit her arrowhead off was that GS told her to draw it out with a whistling arrow. It made a shrill noise as it flew that could be heard even over the storm, meaning it was loud.
5. Priestess' Holy Light harmed the Sea Serpent's eyes because it was from the depths of the ocean and so it was akin to having a sun put into its face.
6. After he killed it, GS asked if that was fine for High Elf Archer since there was no fire, no water, and no explosions for an adventure. She gave it a six out of ten.
7. Dwarf Shaman then used the Tail Wind spell to move their ship back to the shore before it could sink from the damage.
8. The Gillmen are also called Innsmouth and the term is sometimes related to Deep Ones, but no one knows why. The Sea Goblin term is akin to a discriminatory term to them. To avoid conflict considering they were surrounded, Priestess helped with the negotiation since it might have led to all-out war between the villagers and the Gillmen.
9. Guild Girl didn't mean to mislead Goblin Slayer into taking a non-Goblin quest. Sometimes different regions or races had unorthodox names for things that were difficult to understand, so instead of making an excuse for it, she tried to salvage her honor by working out the details. She was also used to GS giving vague descriptions regarding non-Goblins, so she had a monster manual ready to thumb through.
10. Priestess and the others had to replace the boat they borrowed from the villagers, which ate into their reward. But the Gillmen were generous with what they gave them.
11. Witch and Heavy Warrior pop up when they are discussing their rewards, as they are waiting for Spearman and Female Knight to pick out their quest. Priestess once again starts blushing when Witch gives her a look that makes her heart skip a beat. She wants to one day be like her, both as an Adventurer and Woman.
12. The reason Priestess wants to offer the pearls to the Earth Mother is because of her guilt over the Purify blood thing she did last volume.
13. Uncle, the guy who runs the farm, is starting to feel his age and considers how difficult it would be for his niece to handle everything alone and is considering getting farmhands. But he decides against it since all the ones around the area were listless vagabonds who hadn't earned his trust, as he mentioned with Wizard Boy two volumes ago. He also has never seen what Goblin Slayer looks like under his helmet, but at this point, he at least trusts him enough to help out.
14. Goblin Slayer planned on helping around the farm that day, but during his patrol, a delivery boy from the Guild came and told them they needed him urgently. He ran back into the house, saw Farm Girl changing, and told her the situation before heading out.
15. The Acolyte who helps Sword Maiden is stealthy enough that Goblin Slayer doesn't even notice her when he enters the room. He thinks she is some kind of Monk, and Sword Maiden confirms she doubles as her bodyguard. She's also skeptical of bringing Goblin Slayer because, while she doesn't deny his capabilities, she thinks a Silver Rank for an escort mission is overkill.
16. Goblin Slayer took the quest without even asking about the reward, hence the discussion with all of them getting a bag of gold each in advance and then another upon arrival.
17. Another mention of Priestess feeling the same infatuation that she feels towards Witch towards Sword Maiden. When she thinks back to the Resurrection Miracle, she can feel something deep inside of her growing hot. But she doesn't think it's mere reverence.
18. Part of the reason Sword Maiden feels kinship with him is because just like how she had been a pure and undefiled maiden, he had been an innocent boy. She wants to talk about a lot of things with him, but can't bring herself to do so before Priestess woke up. She does feel slight envy towards Priestess as she's the only one of age to be smitten with a boy or admire them unconditionally like a teenage girl.
19. Priestess walking with her staff around the camp nonchalantly was meant to wake the others up, with them recognizing the meaning. That being said, Dwarf Shaman had to give High Elf Archer a slight kick to get her awake and she had to grab a nearby spider to string her bow.
20. The Goblins kept attacking because to them the Adventurers looked vulnerable, more so with one of their own running off. They went through the usual thoughts of what they would do with the women after killing the men, only then did they get ambushed.
21. They cut open both the Goblins and the Wolves to check their stomachs for bits of hands and feet, a chest, and strands of hair, all of which were half-dissolved. He then lined up the various limbs to see if they made full sets of pairs and realized the numbers didn't add up. That, plus the fact they weren't traveling with their cargo or captives, meant something was off.
22. Dwarf Shaman goes to buy drinks for everyone while they wait called Sapa, but it smells too much like metal for High Elf Archer to drink. It doesn't bother the Dwarf because trace poisons from metal like lead don't work on them. He instead shared some Posca, made from mixing water into wine that had been turned into vinegar and mixed with honey, with Sword Maiden and Goblin Slayer.
23. The King's carriage, horses, and half-army number of men were all of the highest quality and grabbed attention. Dwarf Shaman stated that such things were a necessary expense for royalty since they had to look big as representatives. If the King dressed like a pauper and went around alone to collect taxes, no one would take him seriously.
24. The guards at the gate had equipment better than Adventurers and had to ask if the party could write (again, Middle Ages literacy is limited) but were more familiar with different races coming and going.
25. That being said, Goblin Slayer looking grimy and simply tossing his tag left them to question if he was a Dark Elf or something else. He points out he has a normal Elf in his party and shows his visor, at which point they state the High Elf Archer could be a Dark Elf wearing makeup.
26. Even Priestess gets fed up enough that she is going to speak her mind when Sword Maiden finally speaks, at which point they all but throw away the procedure and are perfectly willing to let them go inside.
