Interesting episode, got to see some of Takano's past. while it was filled with tragedy, she still doesn't get my full sympathy. So there were changes in the opening, and I thought I just wasn't paying enough attention to it before.

It has been shown in multiple psychological studies that people who have been abused (physically, emotionally, and/or sexually) are highly likely to either be attracted to abusers or to replicate that abuse onto others. The truly saddening part is that most individuals who have experienced this abuse are not consciously aware of how similar their own actions are to those of their tormentors.
I'm rather doubtful that even someone as clever as Miyo realizes that her lifelong dream of immortalizing the legacy of her parents and Dr. Takano is actually a reenactment of her childhood upon people who are happy as she once was.
